Sugar Lips (an online women's clothing store) graciously sent me this lovely polka dot dress! I couldn't resist adding the pearl necklace, bracelet and earrings-polka dots scream 1940's style, as do pearls! Overall I'm loving this dress! Super light fabric-nice for these hot Summer days we've been having! The tie in front adds a bit of elegance to a simple design. The company was pleasant to deal with and very patient! I was also impressed with how fast they shipped it-she told me it was on it's way on the 25 (Wed.) and I received it yesterday (Mon.)!
There are a few downsides to the dress-one being a pro AND a con. The dresses cut is a bit too high on the sides (for me personally) but it also makes it super cute-so I'm not sure if that's a pro or a con! The elastic waist hits me a bit too high and makes it appear tight-which is why I added the belt (it helps pull the waist line down and keep it from being too tight). But overall, the pros far out weigh the cons.
Sugar Lips has some other lovely items on their site-most of which could easily be made modest by adding tank top or leggings (depending). I took the liberty of adding pictures of a couple of my personal favorites on their site:
Twist and Tie Hem Dress |
Boho Illusion Dress |
On a side note, I have no explanation as to why I have a hat on in some photos and not the others....
QUESTION: How would you style this dress?

It's really cute! I like it with the leggings! As for other styling ideas...it might look cute worn over a maxi skirt, or tucked into another skirt. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteHehe, and I just got the boho illusions dress! I love it!

That's an adorable dress! I think the leggings definitely make it modest :) I would probably end up putting it with jeggings and a lightweight half-sleeve black cardigan.

These Little Hands
cute!
ReplyDeleteSo cute, Natasha! Since I don't wear leggings very often, I probably would style this with another knee-length skirt underneath or some "un-baggy" jeans. :)
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question about the blouse- I have not shrunk it yet, but I probably will since it's 65% Polyester/35% Rayon. That type of fabric isn't going to shrink, at least not enough to notice. I shop at places like Walmart quite a bit, mainly to stay within a reasonable budget, and have been able to find some really cute blouses and useful camis there! The only time things have shrunk noticeably for me is when the fabric has a high percentage of Cotton. I just make sure to check tags and sometimes get a size larger if I know it will shrink (or if I really like the way a blouse fits, I'm just careful not to through it in the dryer and I let it air-dry instead).
God bless!
Rachel
