I need a bit of input from all of you! I've been toying around with the idea of writing an eBook....any interest in that? I have a few ideas for topics, but I'm wondering if you have a particular topic that would be interesting to read? Leave a comment with a topic suggestion, it would be greatly appreciated!
Note: I'd rather keep the topic to things I know and that interest me-I.E: I probably won't write a book on brain surgery or the art of keeping a spotless room. LOL! : )

Here's my tid bit of advice: write and e-book if you feel the Holy Spirit is compelling you to write one about a specific topic. If you feel God tugging at your heart to share something important, listen to Him and do it. That will be the most effective way of knowing what to write about, in my humble opinion.

Having just completed my second eBook, here are my thoughts:
ReplyDelete1) What is your motivation? My motivation was to provide hands-on help for girls struggling with modest options by giving instructions for how to create their own items. If my motivation had been easy money or something, I would never have finished the projects.
2) It's a LOT of work to produce something that people will pay money for. My eBooks took at least a solid month each of HARD, unpleasant work, and the return on time investment is slow. My first ebook took two years to actually start selling consistently.
3) What makes you an expert on your subject that someone should pay for your experience? In my case, I had garments that I created and wore, and people saw them and asked for the instructions. I didn't feel qualified, but I was encouraged to write anyway and through the process did manage to learn more and become experienced.
I say all this not to discourage you, but to encourage you to pursue it if you are passionate and have the time. :) I really didn't know what I was getting into when I started, and it was a lot to learn.
Blessings on your endeavors!

I'm inclined to advise against it, for now at least. If you take a liking to one of the topics you mentioned, and it's something that you're in a position to demonstrate original knowledge about, then go ahead and throw yourself into writing "The Book" and getting it published. However, if you're just toying around with some interesting ideas, then maybe they'd make better blog posts.
