What I Wear-Burnout Tee And

7 comments:

When at all possible, I like to respond to my readers comments privately, however, I thought this one would be something other people might be interested in.

Andie Asked:"How do you care for your long hair? (shampoo, conditioner, etc) Andie :)"

I'm far from the healthiest person, however I like to keep the food I eat and the products I put on my hair/body as natural as possible. In the last few years I did a little research on shampoo, coming to the conclusion that I no longer wanted to use shampoos with sulfates. The sulfates in regular shampoo actually strip you hair! Which can lead to thinning, unhealthy hair. So I switched to sulfate free shampoo. I currently use: L'oreal Reconstruct sulfate free shampoo and conditioner, Organix shampoo and conditioner and Renpure shampoo and conditioner. All are sulfate free and made of natural ingredients. They are a bit expensive (we only buy shampoo when it's on sale, or we have a coupon). A great way to get shampoos cheap is to look out for mail-in-rebates hanging on the bottle. I've gotten several Renpure shampoos and conditioners free by using mail in rebates.

I also think that vitamins and a good diet are essential for caring for your hair. I used to take Folic acid and fish oil, but switched to a multi-vitamin that includes folic acid and many others.

It's important to keep long hair conditioned and healthy, I try to do a mayo hair mask (basically you smear mayo all over your hair and let it sit for 20-30 minutes under a plastic bag on your hair) every so often. I also really like the L'oreal intensive night repair creme-it doesn't leave your hair oily at all! Surprising since it feels super oily going on. I also try to drink plenty of water (this also helps skin in addition to hair).

Being gentle with your hair is important, combing it whenever possible, not brushing it while wet, etc. Keeping it trimmed when the ends become split or scraggly is also important (though painful if you're trying to grow it out!).
Hope this answers your question!

What I Wear- Plaid Wool Skirt 1950's Style + Invisible Band Hairstyle And Thoughts On Makeup

13 comments:

Hey everyone, I decided to take a shower and get some outfit photos posted! I mentioned the shower to explain my hair's stringy appearance! I tried something new with my hair:
All I did was pull two sections back into a ponytail/hairband and pulled the hair hanging down partially through! I like how it came out, and you can't even see the hairband!

Thanks for the encouragement on the exercise post, I'll be sure to post more on that soon.

Someone commented on my exercise post:
"If I may ask why don't you wear make up? ~*Karin*~"

Of course you may ask! I'm not going to answer though...just joking! I don't mind, really! : ) My not wearing makeup has nothing to do with Christianity, it's simply a personal preference. My older sister and my mom (on occasion) wear makeup, and I'm allowed to if I like. However, I've never really had a desire to wear makeup. I've been blessed with super dark eye lashes, and you probably wouldn't be able to tell if I did wear mascara. I like my face the way it is, and I don't feel the need to cover, or alter it. I also know many women who wear makeup for awhile and then feel washed out when they aren't wearing it. I don't ever want to feel like my natural face isn't "good enough". My other reason for not wearing makeup is that I feel I would be one of those women who becomes too dependent on makeup, and won't leave the house without it on. So I see nothing wrong in wearing makeup, for some people, just not me! I know lots of people who look beautiful in makeup, but it's entirely their choice whether or not they wear makeup. So to make a long story short, the answer is: I don't want to! : )

After these questions, I was wondering if there is anything else that you've been wondering about me? I'd love to answer any of your questions (within reason of course!). I know I have quite a few new readers, so toss the questions at me!

What I Wear- Fall Approaching

3 comments:
Well, it's happening! The weather is starting to cool down, the leaves are changing..it's fall! I'm actually excited this Winter! I can't wait to wear my new sweaters and boots! Bring the snow on! Did I just say that...? Yep! Although it's supposed to go back to 80+ in a couple of days, today it's 50 deg! So I'm wearing a hoodie...and flip flops...I took these pictures yesterday. In trying to be positive about Winter, I'm acutally looking forward to it now! Plus everyone loves my Montana snow backgrounds, right?!
I had to go to the dentist yesterday...I have a cavity. Yuck. But it's only a small one, or so they say. Do they just do that to make you feel better? On top of that, our electricity was out all night, and thus I brushed my teeth outside, with a spit cup! I think I could become obsessed with brushing and flossing my teeth! GRIN
Which isn't necessarily a bad thing since my hygienist said that she has some people who only brush their teeth ONCE a MONTH!
So I guess I forgot to do Feminine Friday last week, so it will be this week! Don't forget to link up! I'm hoping to have a bigger turn out this week, so please help me out and link up and spread the word as well!
I'm working on more creative poses, any better?
I'm wearing: Plaid shirt/short dress (originally $58! Sale price: $8!) Capri Jeggings $4 Kmart

Random thing about me: I could eat pizza for months and not sick of it!
What's your favorite food?

What I Wear- Easter 50's/60's Style!

9 comments:

I wore this outfit yesterday-Easter. Originally, the skirt was supposed to be a dress, but the bodice got messed up. It was going to have buttons down the front of the bodice, but the fabrice was so thin that it frayed too much before I got fray check on. So I settled for a skirt instead. I actually like how the outfit came out! It's sort of 50's/60's style. And yes, I'm wearing a petticoat. Weird, right? I don't really care if it is, I like the way it looks. Although it does have a slight drawback, it's very hard to sit in! Have you ever seen those drawings in books of ladies in hoopskirts that are lying on the ground, their hoop skirt up in the air? Petticoats are similair. I had to be careful that I didn't sit down too fast. So lady like sitting is important!

It was a beauitful day yesterday! Upper 60's in fact! I've decided that Montana people have a huge advantage over the warmer states: we enjoy the nice weather when it comes around! Other states take the sunshine for granted, or it gets so hot all they do is stay inside all day.
Saturday was also gorgeous and my dad, siblings and I went on a walk down our road. Fresh air rocks! I love going on walks up and down our road. The silence is soothing, and their aren't any cars rushing past! (a few anyway)

I've been working on a few more drawings! (Which you can view HERE) One of a blog reader, and a friend at church. I think both came out well. I also finished a baby drawing (yes another!) this time of Asian Twins.

I think my curls turned out well! I just used those foam curlers. You can get them at the dollar store I believe.

I'm wearing: 50's Vintage Style Sweater From Wal Mart ($7) Ghingahm Skirt Made By Me ($1 a yard!) Petticoat from Bonanza (kind of like Etsy) ($20) Low Heeled Mary Janes 6pm ($30)

Hey Everyone! I wore this yesterday, so I'm running a day behind! But thats ok! At least I got it posted! Right? Its been slowly getting warmer each day, and by Monday, its supposed to be in the 70's! Woohoo! Anways, This is one of the items I bought at a Thrift store. For some reason, it reminds me of the 30's. You know....flappers, drop waist dress, but I'm not sure about the stripes....hmmm. I added the white skirt because The striped shirt/dress was a bit too short by itself.                                                          I'm extremley grateful that stringy, greasy hair didn't show up in this photo! I made the mistake of putting some coconut oil on my hands (as a mositurizer) and then went to go take a shower....COCONUT OIL AND MY HAIR DO NOT MIX! LOL! Yeah, it was pretty disgusting looking!
-What I Wear-
Striped Shirt-Thrift store $2!
White cami-Vanity
White Skirt-Goodwill
Leggings-Target
Cardigan-Vanity
Necklaces-???Various places.

QUESTION: DO YOU SHOP AT RETAIL OR THRIFT/USED SHOPS MORE?

What I Wear- Feelin Blue

Hey everyone! So I'm trying to figure it out, my outfits are...missing something! I think the necklaces helped, but I'm still working on it! I'm really excited, today I got some super cute skirts, and a couple shirts for dirt cheap! So hopefully I can get some decent outfits out of it!  I think part of my problem is that its Summer, I don't have many Summer outfits, mostly Winter (you know, I live in Montana what can you expect?)  So I'm working on my outfits.    The weather has taken a down turn (a little colder) about -50's. But my family and I have been heading out as many nights as possible to walk on our road. You'll probably think I'm nuts, but I actually like excercising! The road we go on, its probably a mile or two walk. So thats pretty good. Its uphill most of the way, and we weeze a bit, but thats ok! I bring this up, because I'm thinking of posting a "What I Wear on walks" What do you think?         See the skirt I'm wearing? Well, it used to be about 10 times bigger, but I downsized it to fit me, and I really love how it came out!

Shirt-Aeropostale
Skirt-Re-purposed Goodwill
Flip Flops-Vanity

Baking soda shampoo?!

7 comments:

Yes, that's right! I tried it tonight, we'll see what my hair looks like in the morning!
Right now, its shiny and clean! And it feels nice! The only thing I don't like right now,
is that it doesn't smell. Now that in and of itself isn't awful! But I was trying to think of
something to add to the baking soda to make it smell nice. Any ideas? Mom suggested
Vanilla....hmmm. Thanks to Serena (she actually sent it to me for skin care!) I found
this hair shampoo. (She calls it going poo-less. Isn't that cute?!) All I did was mix about
two tablespoons (she said one, but two worked better for me, as it made it a bit stronger)
with a 1 cup of water. and just mixed it with a spoon in a plastic cup. I think it might actually
work better maybe in a spray bottle? Seems like a good idea, I guess I'll see. Has anyone
else tried washing there hair in baking soda? Just curious how it worked for you if you did.
Oh yeah, Serena also suggested on her blog that she uses Apple Cider Vinegar. I'm not
sure if I'll try that, I might try mayonnaise in my hair instead. Let me know if you've done
any of this, and how it worked for you.
