Tea Tree Oil For Acne

Hey, I wanted to write an article about something new I've found. I was using Clean -n- Clear to treat my acne, but I stumbled across a post about using-get this- BAKING SODA!! No, that was not a spelling mistake! Now, instead of using Clean -n- Clear, which has sooo many ingrediants that I can't even pronounce, much less want to put on my face, including Benzoyl Peroxide, ("active ingrediant." Makes you wonder huh?) I'm using baking soda! Also, for a spot treatment, I'm using tea tree oil.
Much simpler process than using three diffrent products of Clean -n- Clear (Mom worked a deal to get a kit for me for only $2, but its $20 after that!) BONUS! Its cheap too! Heres a step by step "how to" of cleaning your face with baking soda!
1. Wet your face with warm (NOT HOT!) water
2. You have two options, one, you can put the baking soda on directly (works better for oily skin) or you can put some water in your hand and mix it with the baking soda. I use both, depending on the day, wether my skins oily, or dry that day.
3. Rinse thouroughly. ( make sure you get the baking soda around your jaw especially)
4. Dry face with clean towel.
CLEANSED!
Now:
1. In a small bowl or container, put a small amount of HOT water! It has to be HOT!
2. Place three-four drops of tea tree oil into the water and stir till mixed. (This is why it has to be hot water, oil mixes with water better if hot.
3. apply tea tree oil with cotton swab, or cotton ball (Depending on which you prefer) and let dry!
VOILA! Your done! I find that it lessens the redness of the pimples and causes them to dissapear faster.
As long as you don't pick them, they should heal quickly. Hope this helps someone!

  4. I just found out about this method of cleaning your skin: http://simplemom.net/oil-cleansing-method/

Everyone who does it seems to love it, but I can't vouch for it myself, only having used it once so far. ;) I thought I'd let you know, though, in case you wanted to try it out!

  6. Just wanted to also suggest my routine. I boil some water and pour it over about a Tablespoon of quick-cook oatmeal. After about a minute, it's cooked and I just smear it on my face. Let it sit for a minute and then wipe it off with a paper towel, rinsing with warm water. I then use cold lemon juice as a toner, rinse that off after about a minute, and finish with jojoba oil as my moisturizer. It seems to take away the redness. I do it every night and then wash with water in the morning, along with with some jojoba to moisturize. I have quite a bit of scars and redness, but this seems to help manage it better than any chemicals ever have. I'll have to try the oil method recommended about too.

PS: I'm also working up to no-poo. I started using Giovanni organic shampoo every other day a few months ago as a transition to no poo and my hair LOVES it. Shinier, softer, and is growing at a crazy speed for me. I don't so much like the baking soda method and will likely try to find a shampoo bar soap or something when I finally switch.

    Blessings!

  7. I have a sister who was getting prescription acne treatment, but when I told her about apple cider vinegar, she was able to stop using the medicated stuff. It works wonders for skin, just wipe it on your face after washing. Might want to use it at night, cause it stinks a little! :-)

  8. Do you store the tea tree oil mixture or does it have to be made fresh? Also do you use this everyday? My son is almost 12 and starting to get some pimples. I have been using the oil cleansing method with him which is working so great. But if we miss a day, he gets little bumps.

Since this post (2 years ago!) I've found Tea tree oil that is pre-diluted, so you don't have to add water, just put it on your face. I would say from what you told me that he just needs to moistruize. I reccomend using Kiss my face intense night repair cream, and most recently I've started using coconut oil. I find that if I don't put some kind of mositurizer on my face, my face gets super red, this may be the same kind of thing your son's is having. Hope this helps!
