I thought this would be a good time to tell you about a must see movie. The Nativity Story, starring Keisha Castle-Hughes as Mary and Oscar Isaac as Joesph.
I reccomend this movie to anyone who has "normalized" the birth story. Its a great movie, the filming is great too! Let me know if you do see it, what you think of it.
"My soul magnifies the Lord
and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior,
for he has regarded
the lowly state of his maidservant. For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed.
For He who is mighty has done great things for me,
and holy is His name.
And His mercy is on those who fear Him,
from generation to generation.
He shown strength with his arm;
He has scattered the proud in the imagintaion of their hearts.
He has put down the mighty from their thrones,
And exalted the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
And the rich He has sent away empty.
remembrance of His mercy,
As He spoke to our fathers,
To Abraham and his seed forever."
I REALLY WANT TO SEE THAT!!!
ReplyDeleteIT LOOKS SOOOOO GOOD!
I have such great memories that go with this movie...in fact it is one of the few movies that our "whole" family went to see in theaters on Christmas Eve when it came out!And now we own it and traditionally watch it every Christmas season!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome movie......
I really liked this movie too! It helped me realized how it must have felt like for Mary like you said. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful CHRISTmas!
How interesting! I have seen this movie advertised in CBD for quite some time but didn't know anything about it. It sounds wonderful! Sure would be nice to have a CHRIST-centered Christmas movie to watch too! (There are so few, it seems!) Thank you for the review! :-)
ReplyDeleteHey Natasha!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tag! To be honest I have no idea if we'll be able to do it or not. Lis and I have been crazy busy lately (seriously, the older you get the more hectic your life becomes!) It was so funny when you told me I had been tagged I was like "Oh wow. I haven't done a tag since....forever" I used to do tags all the time when I started blogging (almost 4 years ago! I cannot believe it's been that long)
Oh and also thanks for your tip about pictures! We got some up!!!
Aaand, I don't mean to be rude, but I have a hard time viewing the pictures upload and then reading the text around them, it's best to make the pictures smaller and keep them centered in the post. Blogger automatically makes the images clickable so you can view them larger. To make your pictures smaller (but still able to be viewed larger..does that make sense?) resize them when your writing the post. I'm really sorry if you find this offensive or rude, I don't mean for it be taken that way. But as a graphic/web design geek and blogger for 4 years I've picked up on a couple of things ;-)
Have a good weekend and Merry Christmas!

p.s. loooooooooooooooooooooooove the background!
I personally thought the movie was just ok. What bothered me the most was that the people had almost no emotions other than gloom.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad everyone enjoyed the post!
ReplyDeleteElinor: Yeah! We were just talking about that too! Kind of crazy considering thats what this season is all about!
Kayla: Your so welcome for the tag! I thought I would help you out and get at least some traffic to your blog! As far as pictures go, that was the smallest I could get it, so...
Echo of mercy: I kind of see where you're coming from, but I don't think everyone was gloomy, Mary was a bit quiet (not so much gloomy.) I hondestly couldn't see Mary being annoying and loud! Can you?
