Break down the words: self. Esteem. Hmm...sounds slightly prideful and selfish, eh? Self esteem is a word that the secular community invented for their own selfish gain! "In order to have good self esteem, your daughter needs to have all the latest clothes, do whatever she wants, have a good figure...." And the list goes on and on. Wouldn't it be much easier just to come out with the truth? We have no worth without our Savior! He defines me. He tells me I'm beautiful (bible verse). He's the only one who loves me eternally. How many people can say they have a "guy" who will love them wether or not they have crossed eyes, or sky blue eyes lined with lush dark lashes? I can! can you?
However their is a catch. Having God esteem does mean you have to accept who you are. God made you perfect-perfect by the worlds standards? No. Perfect by His standards? Yes! I read somewhere (wish I could remember where) that by looking in the mirror and thinking of all the things we wish we could change, we're actually slapping God in the face! It's like saying: "Hey God, I really hate the way you made me. It was really dumb to give me...(insert physical "Flaw")" When God is looking down on you with loving eyes, perfect in each and every way in His eyes.
Instead of striving to have the latest clothes, the perfect figure etc. strive to grow closer to Jesus. It doesn't matter how you look, how shy you are, how crazy others may think you are: JESUS LOVES YOU! You could've led the most awful life, and have a face like a bull dog, JESUE LOVES YOU! You are His perfect beautiful Princess. Divinely beautiful, breathtakingly gorgeous, stunningly graceful. JESUS LOVES YOU!

Tell Me Two Things About Yourself That You Are Grateful God Gave You: Physical Or Character Trait(s)
I like my eye color (green/blue-changes depending on what I'm wearing). And the fact that I'm not afraid to speak up for something I believe in.
Ahhh-- i love your shoes!! ^^ And your shirt is super cute, too!
ReplyDeleteTwo things I'm grateful that God gave me are:
1. A quick mind
2. a good dose of creativity.
And, I'm mostly grateful that He just made me ME.(:
I like my blue eyes and my fast metabolism...both gifts of God. :D
ReplyDeleteGod is awesome, and I've never heard of God esteem....great idea thank you for sharing!
I am not a Christian but I think that you're right that no matter your physcial appearance, G-d will always love you. However I have to disagree with you on a point. Self esteem for me is not about having the latest things in fashion to make you feel better, its about having a healthy mindset and not loathing yourself. Self love is not selfish if its to love life and not hate yourself. That is a dangerous thing to be. You can be humble and have self esteem at the same time and it need not be vanity at all. I think to be that is to pay tribute to G-d as G-d made us the way we all are and we are all beautiful in G-d's eyes. And healthy self love is a good way to appreciate how G-d made us

I enjoy my hair being straight, therefore easier to work with, and my straight eyebrows (no need to pluck them!). :)
ReplyDeleteHey! I stumbled across ur blog I have no idea how but I totally did not understand a word you said. But just a suggestion (sorry if I sound rude) You would look really pretty if you wore some make up (and I'm not talking about wearing excessive eyeliner to make you look like a raccoon) Lip gloss, a tiny bit of eyeliner and mascara! And you would look great in skinny jeans!! Thats just my opinion.....
ReplyDelete-14 year old home-schooler (I'm going to a private school this year tho!)
I'm thankful for my long, dark eyelashes (no need for mascara!) and my straight hair :)

Natasha,
ReplyDeleteI love this post! So true! I wanted to click the "love it" thing ten times! :)
I am thankful that God gave me a big smile and eyes to see. I'm also just thankful that He has given me such a wonderful life and makes each of us uniquely and beautiful.

ReplyDeleteYou totally took the words out of my mouth there; I agree word for word. Self-esteem isn't about vanity, it's about feeling at least somewhat satisfied with who you are. If that translates into G-d-esteem for you, that's great! It's not just a term that the secular community came up with to be, heaven forbid, full of themselves.
Wonderful post! (I never thought about it that way!) And adorable outfit! ;)
ReplyDeleteI agree with what the other girls said, for me self-esteem er, God esteem is loving the way God made me. I have VERY low self esteem and I am a former rebel (I was into cutting, eating disorders, depression, and suicide attempts before God brought me back to him it's a VERY long story!!) I am slowly, but surely learning to overcome my low-self esteem and to love the way God made me. I have a very hard time accepting myself and considering myself as beautiful and made in God's image so this post hit home for me!
Two things that I like about myself- my hair and my eyes.
I love the shirt as birds are one of my favrite animals! I am thankful for my family and that we are able to home school. As to two things I like about myself are my hair when it is just cut and that some say I look like my mother.
