I'm going to participate in Ashley's 30 for 30 remix challenge on April 14th! So the basic rules are that you pick out 30 items, and you wear them for 30 days (no repeat outfits!) Due to crazy Montana weather, some of my items are due to change-sorry but I don't intend on freezing simply because I'm doing an event! I will stick with my shirts and skirts because I was able to compensate for weather, however the shoes were hard. I tried to include something for any weather, but if it gets super cold I may replace my shoes with warm Winter boots! ; ) The good part is, accesories, layering camis and coats don't count! I would be out of luck if necklaces, scarves and such counted! I'm very spur of the moment oriented! I rarely know what I'm wearing from one day to the next (except Sundays when I have very little time). So it should be interesting!
I plan on partially participating in the "no shopping"-aside from one shopping trip. I only did 25 items so I can incorporate anything I find. I also decided that I really need to go through my clothes! I found a lot of items that no longer fit (too big, too short, never wear). Closet purging time! I'm also not allowing myself to wear any of the items I listed here. I set them aside in a box! This way I can go through the rest of my closet and get rid of things.
Wonderful to be commenting here again!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you do with the clothes you picked!
Blessings!

I can't wait to see the outfits you come up with!(: I've always wanted to do a 30x30, but I don't think I could really commit to it, at least not to blogging the whole thing. :P maybe I'll try something like a 15x15--something a bit smaller--and see how that goes. Maybe in the summer when I'm on break.(:

Awesome! I love number 16 shirt! :D
ReplyDeleteAre tattoos a sin? I ask because a girl in my church just got one and I wondered what the bible says about them.

Sarah,
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting!
The only Bible verse specifically on tatoos is:
Leviticus 19:28
"You shall not make any cuts on your body for the dead or tattoo yourselves: I am the Lord." To be honest, I struggle with this verse! Is it saying not to tattoo ourselves? Or is it just talking about the spiritual side of tattooing? I think it's one of those verses that you have to let the Lord lead you in. Obviously it's not in concrete and up for interpretation. Personally, I think tattoos are a bad idea (for me) for the very simple reason that I think I would regret it. It's very permanent and not to be taken lightly.
Since you're asking because of your friend I also wanted to make sure I told you to be gracious to your friend. This is a great verse:
Matthew 7:1-29
“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye. ...
1 Corinthians 10:23
“All things are lawful,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful,” but not all things build up." What may be okay for me, wouldn't be okay for you. Likewise, tattoos may be okay in your friend's house, it may not be okay in yours. Try to be gracious and kind to your friend. Chances are, she's not going to take it well if you go up and say "hey, I think you're sinning because you got a tattoo." It's not our place to judge other people, that's God's. On the other hand, if you feel God leading you to say something to her, by all means listen! But make sure it's God telling you to, and not just a whim. Above all else, love your friend! Anything done in love will be taken much better than in judgement.
Hope this answers your question!

ReplyDeleteThis is such a great challenge!! I'm happy you are pushing your boundaries =)
ReplyDeleteI did a minimalist event called the 333 Challenge during a Michigan autumn in 2010, using just 33 things for three months. It did not include undergarments or gym clothes, but accessories and warm weather gear all counted. Also, I did not switch out items. A rewarding, challenging goal if there ever was one!
You can read my post on it if you like: http://debplo.blogspot.com/2010/10/333-challenge.html
