What I Wear-Autumn Trends Event Day 1

6 comments:

I'm making my attempt at joining Ashley's Fall blog event. The only snag is that it's currently 80 deg. where I live! While I'd love to wear a sweater or a pair of boots, it's not feasible today. Tomorrow is forecasted as 54 and rain, so maybe I'll get to wear long sleeves at the very least.

So I picked this outfit because it has a sort of Fall "vibe" to it. The darker colors, scarf and closed toe shoes felt sort of Fall-ish to me.

Funny secret about my scarf, promise you won't tell? Well, okay I'll tell you. I had a striped skirt that hit mid calf, an unflattering length. So I snipped it off and 'voila-presto! A striped scarf. How very classy of me. Haha!

What I Wear-How To Wear Shorts Modestly

14 comments:

Im sure you clicked and were like "What?! Shorts?! Aren't those immodest?" My answer would be-no. There are certain items the modest community dismiss straight away, no questions asked.
I don't wear skirts very far above my knee. My reasoning is that if I bend over, a skirt is going to show a lot more than I'm going to be okay with. Shorts are a different story, I have to feel comfortable in them, I can't be constantly tugging them down. About two-three inches below my finger tips (with arms at my sides) is as short as I would ever go. Some people won't agree with me, some women don't believe pants are okay.

I hope that everyone feels safe here, that no one has to feel like they have to dress a certain way (except what The Lord personally leads you to). Dressing for other people, letting others tell you what is and isn't modest, nope-not the answer. If you don't own your convictions, you'll easily drop them.
Being swayed too easily will cause you to be tossed about, decide what modest is to you-and own it!

Do you wear shorts? Why or why not?

What I Wear-The Irony Of Intolerance

I've been contemplating lately if true tolerance exists, or if it's simply a wish never to come true. There's posts on Facebook pushing for tolerance, posters, videos, you name it, it probably exists. But I pose a question to you-is true, utter, complete tolerance attainable?
If you want to know my answer to that question, I say, no. To every issue, there's another side. Every offense has a defense. They go round and round saying "You need to be more tolerant!" Except by saying that, they're being equally intolerant.

There are tons of awesome bible verse I could quote, but here are two helpful ones:
"If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first." John 15:18

"I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world." 16:33

You're going to come under fire for your beliefs, people will call you "intolerant." They'll ask you "How can you say I'm a sinner when you're just as bad as me?" Guess what? They're so right! I am intolerant of sin and I'm absolutely as bad (if not worse than) them. The difference is, I'm forgiven and they can be forgiven too.

Don't let the world know you for being intolerant in the sense that you're rude, or unloving. Let the world know you love, that you love deeply. But yet, even loving deeply we can't back down on certain subjects. Be lovingly intolerant.

I must say, these plain shirts I purchased last month, are worth their weight in gold! I've seriously been giving them a workout! They're incredibly easy to make outfits out of! They make picking outfits out a breeze! Pull a plain shirt and a cute printed skirt and I'm off! Easy peasy!

I hadn't realized how many printed and graphic shirts I've purchased over the years! They definintely don't lend themselves to mixing and matching! You can bet you're going to be sick of this shirt before I am! Lol!

I'm a bit ahead (or behind depending on your pessimistic perspective) on posting, so I wore this some time last week? In all honesty I had a tee shirt and jeans on today for housework (which were changed a bit early due to the fact that I spilt not only pickle juice, but also almond milk all over myself!! Obviously it has nothing to do with the fact that the lid wasn't on.. )

In case you're curious, my outfit consists of:
Shirt-Ross $5// Skirt-$4 Rue21etc.// boots-Herbergers $37// lace tank-Vanity $5

Do you own plain shirts? Do you feel they're more functional than, say graphic shirts?
