Why Is It Important To Dress Femininely?

3 comments:
I received this comment today from Sara:

  • "Why is it important to dress femininely?-Sara"
Definition of Femininity: the trait of behaving in ways considered typical for women.

We're girls, be happy with that! Embrace what God created you to be, a woman. To help you out in understanding this, think about something.

What would you do if you saw a horse walking around on it's hind legs all the time? And when you asked the owner, they told you that it was because the horse wanted to be human!

While this may seem a bit silly, this is the basic idea of dressing feminine. Why try to be something we're not?

  • So Skirts Are The Only Option?
Absolutely not! For me, I felt like God was calling (or asking me) to wear skirts. Do I wear skirts because they're more "holy" than pants? No! I wear them because HE asked me to.
I encourage you to decided if you personally, are being called to wear skirts. If not, that's fine! It's not for everyone. But if the clothes your wearing would look fine on a guy (father, brother, guy-friend), they're probably not very feminine. After I started wearing skirts, I realized that they CAN be a lot more modest than jeans. (I do own a pair of slacks by the way) Modest jeans are a lot harder to find than skirts. But skirts can also be im-modest.

It's funny (well not really...but you know!) ladies can get almost violent about the topic of modesty and skirts. I've read some ladies articles, and listened to some ladies speaking, and you can tell God's working on them. Yet they get angry, instead of listening to God's voice! Bitterness does not become thee! : )

Basic jist of this post? Be a girl! It's who God created you to be. That's why it's important to dress feminine!

I hope that answers your question Sara! And if anyone needs something explained to them more clearly, please don't hesitate to ask!

                                                                             Mirror
Looking in the mirror, not anything she thought she'd be.
Mirror reflects the flaws back at her.
No perfect super model nose.
Less than lovely tresses.
Eyes don't seem to glow as they should.
Slightly crooked teeth.
Too small a chest.
Too large a waist.
Feet too big.

Applying the mask, she hides behind the foundation.
Slathers on the shadow, so dark you can't see her eyes.
Working at the gym, she sweats for hours.
Mirror on the wall, still telling her she's not good enough.
Now she's on her knees.
Tears washing away the mask.

Headband close-up

God
Looking in HIS eyes, she can see the truth.
It's flaws the world inflicts.
Her nose, perfectly shaped to fit her face.
Every hair on her head is counted.
Her eyes reflect love for her Savior.
Her teeth are beautiful as they smile to her Jesus.
Tears wash away the mask, revealing inner beauty.
Majestic, masterpiece, beautifully crafted.
These are the words to describe her.
A heart of gold.
Smile that lights the universe.
A deep passionate love to consumer her.
Perfect in the world's eyes?
No.
Perfect in God's eyes?
Yes!
HE's perfectly incandescently in love with you.
You need only accept HIM.
Beautiful, perfect daughter of the KING of KINGS.
YOU!

Hey everyone! Well I had two photographers today! Hopefully they look better! I think the color is much better today. Unfortunately, they still had me as the subject! ; ) I'm working on posing and backgrounds and all that.

The shoes I wore today are a Payless find. They were having their BOGO sale, and I got these shoes for $6.75! A steal! I teased my mom that I payed retail for them ($22.99) she didn't go for it.... : ) Oh well!

I fell in love with these shoes because they're totally 40's/30's yet they don't have a high heel! They're only about an 1" tall! I don't like wearing anything over 1" 1/2 because I don't like to tower over everyone (I'm 5"8) and also, they get really uncomfortable! No gain without pain? I'll stick with my inch heel!

I took your advice, the background is changed to white, I took the photos in as good a light as I could get (its pretty cloudy today) And I took close up photos of my shoes and necklace!

Name: Miss Raquel

Blog: God's Daughter (http://www.god-sdaughter.blogspot.com/)

Interests/Hobbies: oh goodness! Let's see...Well, when you don’t find me
cooking, cleaning, milking goats, or taking care of my younger siblings,
you can find me doing other things that I enjoy, such as: reading,
writing, singing, dancing, crocheting or knitting, doing beadwork, riding
horses, reenacting (Civil War), spending time with friends, and/or
blogging. My three favorite places to be are: outside/the barn, the
kitchen, and my room. :)

(Please check out the bio page if you wish to know more about Miss Raquel)

Where did you find out about my fashion show?
You left a comment on my blog, letting me know! :D Yay! So glad you did!

If you could pick one person who influenced you in modesty, who would it be?
ONE person? Hmm...can I just name a few? ;) My bosom friend, Danielle H.
(http://www.living-athome.blogspot.com/), the Riddell Ladies
(http://www.daughtersofvision.blogspot.com/), the Craig Ladies, the Duggar Ladies,
the McDonald Ladies, Leslie Ludy, the Botkin sisters, Jasmine Baucham,
Miss Jenny (www.blessedfemina.blogspot.com), oh goodness, and many more!

Why is modesty important to you?
Modesty is important to me because I believe the way we dress reflects
EVERYTHING about our character and what we stand for. I want to be a
modest, pure young woman who reflects ONLY the love that God has for me
and show the world that I stand for my LORD - as His daughter.

If you could tell every girl in the world one thing, what would it be?
First of all - follow God. It is the most rewarding path to take. No,
it's not easy - every bed of roses has a thorn in it! :) But it is,
nonetheless, the best. Second - don't back down from your faith in Him.
Stand for what you believe and show the world that He is the only way.
Third - He has a plan for your life. He didn't put you on this earth for
no reason. Believe in Him, trust Him, and He will show you the way.

Given the choice between wearing a skirt, or jeans, which would you pick?
Hmm...it really depends on what mood I'm in. ;)

Can you tell people a little something about your blog?
Well, you can find tons of stuff on it! Like...day-to-day happenings,
giveaways, fashion event photos ;), TONS of pics!, links to fun
websites/blogs, etc., etc. You really should stop by! :)

Anything else you would like to add?
I feel just SO honored to have been a part of this event and to be chosen
as the #1 winner! Wow; I still can't believe it! :) Thank you so much
for interview me too, Natasha.

Name: Miss Emily

Age: 20

Blog: I don't have a blog, but my sister has one for our family, Simple Delights

Interests/Hobbies: Piano ( both playing and teaching), Sign language, health/nutrition, reading , finding great deals on modest fashion.

Short Bio: I am the oldest in my family ( have a younger sister and brother). I was homeschooled from preschool through high school.
Now that I've been a graduate for a couple years, I'm pursuing several avenues of business/ministry opportunities in my areas of interest.
I teach Piano lessons and am hoping to pursue classes in American Sign Language this fall.

Where did you find out about my fashion show? My sister Samantha was already participating in the event, so she told me about it.
If you could pick one person who influenced you in modesty, who would it be? For me, It's not been one person in particular. I have been so encouraged through the years by friends, Christian bloggers and writers as I strive for modesty in what I wear.
Why is modesty important to you? I feel that modesty allows you to be known by who you are as a person, your character, your faith in the Lord, instead of what you have on. In short, people are drawn to you, become friends with you, because of who you truly are. Clothing can send all kinds of messages- make sure you're sending the right one.

If you could tell every girl in the world one thing, what would it be? You are so precious in the sight of God. He created you in His image!

Don't let the world lie to you when it comes to beauty-true beauty come from inside.

Given the choice between wearing a skirt, or jeans, which would you pick? Hmm..tough question. In the past I've been skirts only, in the last few years I've worn a mixture of both. I think now that I've started wearing both, I'd have to say I like each - for different reasons. When I'm doing something active, I appreciate a pair of not-too-tight pants. I'm finding myself gaining new appreciation of skirts, because I think they display such a beautiful femininity to the world, also because it's hard to find pants that aren't too tight( My best bet seems to be jeans carried by Old Navy and Gap).

Can you tell people a little something about your blog? Simple Delights is a mixture of photography, modest fashion and the various happening in the Hartzell household.

Anything else you would like to add? You don't have to spend a lot to be modest and fashionable. One of the ways I stretch my wardrobe dollars is to buy necklaces, earrings, scarves and hats, instead of buying a whole new outfit. Shop your closet and put different pieces of clothing together in different ways. You'd be surprised how many different looking outfits you can make with the same pair of jeans or skirt and t-shirt, simply by switching out a necklace for a scarf, flats for sandals and adding a hat.

Sunday mornings are rough on my closet! Being the pastor's family, we have to be at church way earlier than the rest of you! So not fair! ; ) I usually pick out my clothes the night or day before, so I can roll out of bed and put them on. Do you have any tips for waking up in the morning? Things you do to be more organized? I'd love to hear them, so please share!

The Lost Art Of- Holding The Door

6 comments:
A topic that has really "reached out and grabbed me" lately, holding the door for people! My Mom and Dad have taught us since we were little to hold the door for people. Not because whoever we're holding the door for is an invalid, or not cabapble of doing it themselves. But because-at least in my house-its a sign of respect. That you respect these people enough not to let the door slam in their face!

I know I've read alot about women getting mad at men for holding the door, but I honestly don't know why! I think its absolutley ridiculous! As if by letting someone hold the door for them, their giveing back their right to vote or something!

I have an awesome story of how you can influence others- in this case to hold the door.
On the way out the door of the bank, my younger brother held the door for us-and a little boy. I could see all over the little boys face he was thinking "Oh, holding the door is what big boys do!" Upon looking at my brother, he promptly held the next door for all of us! It was so sweet and cute! And only goes to show that you can influence others for good, just by holding the door!

I don't believe that guys should be the only ones holding the door either, my personal practise is to hold the door for whomever is behind you (guy or girl).

And if someone holds the door for you, BE SURE TO SAY THANK YOU! A thank you can go a long way!

Hebrews 13:1-2 Let brotherly love continue. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.

Let me ask you a question. How would you feel if you knew that you'd slammed the door in an angels face? How would you feel if you knew you'd held the door for an angel?! Personally, I'll stick with number two! LOL! : )

____________________________________________________________________________
Perhaps you have a different view on this, if so I would love to hear it. I won't ridcule you for having a different opinion! But if you do have a different opinion, please state your reasoning.

What I Wear-BLUE JEAN SKIRT CLUB

1 comment:
Hey everyone! So I finally found a blue jean skirt for my Mom in Spokane! So we decided to all get our blue jean skirts on!
I've had someone ask me if I always wear skirts. The answer is no. I do wear jeans and hoodies when the occasion calls for it. Such as, when I went to help out setting up the Mission banquet! You can't really wear skirts to some places, and sometimes its best for your safety too.
