What I Wear-being a good steward

10 comments:
Have you ever thought about blogging as something God calls you to? I hadn't until the other day! My dad (also known as pastor) was preaching about stepping back and asking God how we're doing. Obviously He doesn't expect perfection, but if we truly love Him, we should seek to please Him. I emphasize should because I know for me personally, I have seasons where I definintely don't please Him. It's a constant journey that won't stop till we see Him face to face for eternity.

As I was thinking about what God had given me in my life to be a steward of, the one that stuck with me was blogging! No, I'm not trying to make my blog into some "special" blog that obviously nobody else could make! I'm not perfect, my blog isn't special-the only thing that is different for me, is that I believe God led me to start it.

But I feel like I've been a bit neglectful of writing meaningful material. This is an amazing platform to share Christ and how He's changed my life, as well as my struggles. I suppose you could say this is a "resolution" of sorts.

Does this mean every post from now on will be epiphany filled? Sorry, no. It means I promise to try harder to be a good steward of this gift God has given me. To post quality versus quantity...and try not wear sweats so often...lol!

How about you? Any resolutions for 2014?

Firstly, I apologize for my absence! I've had a nasty cold (or allergies) or something for the past week! I'm just now feeling well enough to get dressed! ;) I've pretty much been living in my PJs, which don't make for very nice outfit posts! For whatever reason, this year the colds/flu/allergies have been knocking me out pretty good! I seriously just felt well enough yesterday to clean out my car and exercise! Yes, I took off exercising for 7 days! Pretty insane for me! As some of you may know, I've made exercise a non-negotiable part of my life, but flip side, it's hard not to be able to do it for that long!

I went for a sort of "boho chic" look here! I started with the dress/skirt (a skirt which has been passed around our house, finally landing in my closet as a dress!). It was too short to wear by itself, so I added another skirt underneath for length. I thought about wearing my white skirt, but it didn't look right. I'm not particularly pleased with the hemline of the blue skirt, it's incredibly odd! But the color went well-you can't have everything!

I paired the floral dress and blue skirt with my blue jean jacket, trusty faux leather moccasins, tan beret and blingy necklace. I also added a belt to the ensemble to pull everything together. Without the belt, the outfit was too bulky and "free" looking.
I should also mention that this is the first time this that I went...*drum roll please*-barelegged! YES! It's starting to be that time of year already-that time of year when I realize how pale my legs have gotten over the Winter! ;)

Have you gone "barelegged" yet?

What I Wear-Weight Lifting And Resistance Training

 I'm Wearing: Hat-Borrowed from my sister Patience, Shirt-Thrifted, Skirt-Thrifted

So I managed to smoosh an outfit post into the day! Thanks for all the advice on packing Summer clothes away! So pretty much I did just pack away my shorts and a couple shirts I probably won't wear during Winter and colder seasons. But honestly, I'm a little ashamed to say that my wardrobe is now busting at the seams! Literally, no exaggeration, I can't fit a single hanger in anywhere! I did get rid of a few pieces, but not enough to make a dent. I have this emotional attachment to my clothes-every piece makes me hesitate. Here's a glimpse of what goes on in my head while deciding on getting rid of something:
Takes piece of clothing off hanger. "Oh! That's kinda ugly, I haven't worn it in almost a year..." Stick it in the thrift store/leaving bag. Ten seconds later: "But...I could wear it with that _____, or maybe this....NO! I need to get rid of it. Good bye sweet friend....Or...."
Something like that! LOL! ; )

Since most of you said "yes" to the Fitness tips, I'm sharing a bit today about weight lifting/resistance training.
I'm currently doing a hybrid Turbo Fire and ChaLEAN Extreme for exercise. Lately I've been wondering why I'm doing it! The backs of my thighs were so soar this week from doing weight lifting (don't freak out, it's more like resistance training) that they were actually soar to the touch, like: Ow! You brushed my leg I'm gonna kill you!!! But I think it's definitely worth it, I can see changes in my body and how I feel (aside from the soarness) I also get sick far less than I used to.

Anyway...my reason for bringing this randomly into this post-weights do NOT bulk ladies up. I used to think that girls who weight lift got those disgusting huge muscles that made them look like guys-not the case at all! Since starting the weight lifting/resistance training I've learned why that is. Guys have testosterone, which is why they can make huge muscles. Girls have estrogen, causing them to get smaller as a result of weight lifting! Now, you're asking about those ladies you've seen with the huge muscles. #1, they are on steroids. #2, they workout 24/7 (even then it would be very hard!). Most likely it's #1. Resistance/weight lifting is really good for you! It makes your bones stronger, you stronger, makes your cardio more effective (a pound of muscle burns 5X more fat as a pound of muscle!), gives you better balance and a whole bunch more benefits than I can list here in one post. I'm only up to 12 pounds (15 is probably as high as I'll go, since I can maintain this much) but considering 5 pounds used to kill me...
It's also important to remember to stick with a number you can maintain, because if you don't, you will lose your muscle, and....you know....the muscle will...ooze? ; ) Anyone have any questions? Are you doing any resistance/weight training?

Colorado Springs, CO Trip Part 2 WARNING-PICTURE LADEN POST!

So this is slightly delayed! You can see part 1 HERE. But last month I visited my grandparents, aunt and uncle, brother and new sister in law in Colordo Springs. While there, I decided to be a dork in the mall and try on these adroable, yet crazy, hats in the Burlington Coat Factory! I have no idea where people would wear these, but they sell them! Great photo opportunity anyway! All the pictures can be enlarged by clicking on them if you'd like to.

My sister Patience

This one is totally my fair lady!

Are these hats totally my fair lady/royal wedding, or what?! I so totally would've been invited to the royal wedding had I found these hats earlier! GRIN just joking, I'm not a royal wedding groupy or anything like that. In fact I only saw the first half...weddings are long and boring. Don't judge me! You know it's true! Which one's your favorite?

Hey everyone, just to let all of you know the Linky for the fashion show day 7 will close on the 8th! So hurry and enter your links! Anyone who wishes to enter previous days may do so, but only before the 8th! I've really enjoyed looking at all the lovely feminine outfits displayed! I hope this event might encourage you to continue dressing modestly, and perhaps even keep doing outfit posts! I, for one, would love to see them!

I found a new backdrop! Lovely, no? When I was little I told my mom I was moving to New York, New York! Now, I can't imagine living in a city! Honestly, I would probably suffocate if I didn't see the mountains! God has such a beautiful creation! Just look at the things around you! Snowflakes, gazillions of them, yet each one is unique. Check out the human body, could all of that happen by chance? I think not!
