What I Wear-Y-O-U are beautiful!

Hey, guess what? You're so beautiful! I know we've talked about this so many times, yet it's a subject I think needs reiterating. We're constantly bombarded with the world's view of "beauty." We all know the drill: perfect hair (dictated by the latest fad), flawless skin, thin (not too thin), and of course always dressed impeccably!
Why do we constantly beat ourselves up, tearing down a creation of our Savior?
Does God make mistakes? You may never be size 2 (I know I won't!)

Reality check-beauty comes in many different shapes and forms. I think it's sort of ironic and funny (well...not really...) that Christians talk about having a "perfect" body in eternity. In our heads, what does that entail? Obviously we're going to be super gorgeous-nothing like we look now! But my thoughts are, what if we look just like we do now? Only void of decay, sin-and don't forget aches and pains. Do you really think God created you as an ugly being? He just randomly picked people to be ugly? Or could it be that He made us all beautiful in His eyes? Maybe, just maybe, you're beautiful after all. Maybe you don't need the world's approval.
YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL

What I Wear-Confessions Of A Cut And Dry Gal

"By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
John 13:35

This verse is awesome, but actually makes me feel quite guilty sometimes. In the spirit of honesty and transparency here (and not just letting you see my "perfect" *cough cough* side) I'd like to say that I'm not who I want to be. In Christ it's a delicate balance of relying on Him for strength, yet still holding myself accountable. Just because there's forgiveness for sins, doesn't give me liberty to sin willfully!

I have the type of personality that can be quite unloving at times. I have the tendency to brush aside feelings and think a little too "cut and dry." And loving people is a bit hard for me sometimes! I'm talking about those people who get on my last nerve and irritate (whether intentional or unintentional). It's so tempting to just float through life never showing love, compassion or feelings for anyone. But that's not good enough! How will people know I'm a Christian if I don't have love?

Anyway, something I'm working on.
Do you struggle with this? How do you show love to those around you who are not your favorite people?

Life Before Prince Charming And My Kate Middleton Skirt

So I've been thinking about how a lot of girls want Prince Charming to rescue them from....themselves. Simply because one gets married doesn't mean that character flaw is suddenly gone. Yes, marriage can serve to grow both of you, but probably in the same ways you needed growing before marriage.

So instead of sitting around, wistfully waiting for a perfect guy (who by the way doesn't exist), how about working on those issues God placed on your heart? I.E. Loving your siblings, being content, waiting patiently (insert your personal issue)

It's very easy to get into the mind set of: my life will start when Mr. Darcy enters the dance floor. The reality? Elizabeth Bennett was living her life way before that.

So, what am I saying? Don't let a guy become your focus in life. I KNOW God has something for you to do right now, right here, in this moment.
So what is it?

What I Wear-being a good steward

10 comments:
Have you ever thought about blogging as something God calls you to? I hadn't until the other day! My dad (also known as pastor) was preaching about stepping back and asking God how we're doing. Obviously He doesn't expect perfection, but if we truly love Him, we should seek to please Him. I emphasize should because I know for me personally, I have seasons where I definintely don't please Him. It's a constant journey that won't stop till we see Him face to face for eternity.

As I was thinking about what God had given me in my life to be a steward of, the one that stuck with me was blogging! No, I'm not trying to make my blog into some "special" blog that obviously nobody else could make! I'm not perfect, my blog isn't special-the only thing that is different for me, is that I believe God led me to start it.

But I feel like I've been a bit neglectful of writing meaningful material. This is an amazing platform to share Christ and how He's changed my life, as well as my struggles. I suppose you could say this is a "resolution" of sorts.

Does this mean every post from now on will be epiphany filled? Sorry, no. It means I promise to try harder to be a good steward of this gift God has given me. To post quality versus quantity...and try not wear sweats so often...lol!

How about you? Any resolutions for 2014?

What I Wear-Snow And Closet Switching Sisters!

Yes, the beautiful white background is back! I can't say I'm glad to see it, honestly I was enjoying the warm weather! (or at least my definition of warm weather!). However, as some of you may know, I decided that this year I was going to try to be happy with whatever the weather is, be it sunshine and warmth or sunshine and cold! I do have to admit that it makes a pretty darn good background. Not too distracting, yet interesting  in it's own way! I had an interesting experience coming home, almost did a 180 on a hill! Yikes!

During my workouts I wear a heart monitor and so does my older sister, we frequently push each other by asking what the other one's heart rate is at-my younger sister asked me after fish-tailing 4-5 times: "What's your heart rate at now Tasha?!" Definitely thankful that God is in control and not me!

I'm Wearing:
Brown Shirt-Thrifted $3
Scarf-Claire's $4
Skirt-Hand-me-down
Tights-?
Boots-Go Jane $20
Know how I said I was going through my closet? Well my younger sister Patience decided to as well...bad idea. We got rid of quite a bit, however we also exchanged quite a few items! It was mostly PATIENCE "Hey, I don't want this-do you?" ME: "Um...YES!" ME: "I never wear this, do you want it?" PATIENCE: "AHHH!! YES! Stop! I can't take any more, we're just switching them from my side to yours!" It did turn out okay I only ended up taking a few things and got rid of quite a few things that don't fit anymore. Believe me, closet purging is well worth the effort!

QUESTION: When was the last time you went through your clothes to get rid of some?

What I Wear-Boho Chic

I'm Wearing:
Blue jean jacket-Vanity $15
Floral print skirt worn as dress-hand me down $0
Blue cotton skirt-Thrifted $3
Boots-Vanity $10

Firstly, I apologize for my absence! I've had a nasty cold (or allergies) or something for the past week! I'm just now feeling well enough to get dressed! ;) I've pretty much been living in my PJs, which don't make for very nice outfit posts! For whatever reason, this year the colds/flu/allergies have been knocking me out pretty good! I seriously just felt well enough yesterday to clean out my car and exercise! Yes, I took off exercising for 7 days! Pretty insane for me! As some of you may know, I've made exercise a non-negotiable part of my life, but flip side, it's hard not to be able to do it for that long!

I went for a sort of "boho chic" look here! I started with the dress/skirt (a skirt which has been passed around our house, finally landing in my closet as a dress!). It was too short to wear by itself, so I added another skirt underneath for length. I thought about wearing my white skirt, but it didn't look right. I'm not particularly pleased with the hemline of the blue skirt, it's incredibly odd! But the color went well-you can't have everything!

I paired the floral dress and blue skirt with my blue jean jacket, trusty faux leather moccasins, tan beret and blingy necklace. I also added a belt to the ensemble to pull everything together. Without the belt, the outfit was too bulky and "free" looking.
I should also mention that this is the first time this that I went...*drum roll please*-barelegged! YES! It's starting to be that time of year already-that time of year when I realize how pale my legs have gotten over the Winter! ;)

Have you gone "barelegged" yet?

What I Wear-Avonlea Gloves!

I'm wearing: Scarf-Forever 21-gift, Gloves-gift-from Avonlea set!- Jean Jacket-borrowed from my sister Patience, Dress-Forever21, Pants-thrifted, boots-gojane.com

I got these gloves from my parent's fro Christmas, but the coolest part is that they were worn on the set of Avonlea! Isn't that awesome? So I imagined that Sara Stanley or Felicity King wore them...although in reality it was probably some extra that was on the set for 2.5 seconds. LOL! Fun to imagine anyway! The scarf was also a Christmas present!

It's been sort of a weird year in regards to snow-it hasn't snowed hardly at all! Which actually isn't good, since we need the moisture. The snow hasn't melted off, but it hasn't come down anymore. It's just been cold! Which is okay too, whatevs. I'd have to say that jeans under my dress was an attempt at staying warm without too much bulk. Sometimes leggings or tights just don't cut it! Some other cold weather tips for wearing skirts-
wear 2 pairs of socks (wool is best!)
leg warmers over tights
hats and scarves actually do keep you warm (they're not just for looks!)

What are your cold weather tips for wearing skirts/dresses?

What I Wear-Doctor Who Inspired Wear (Military Style Leather Jacket)

Though I'm running the risk of seeming a bit obsessed with Doctor Who-this jacket is so Martha/Rose! No?
I scored this lovely military inspired leather jacket at a thrift store for $5.99! Unfortunately, I'm finding it a bit hard to style! It's sort of bluish-black-which I think makes it hard to style. How would you style this jacket?
I paired the jacket with a floral dress (also thrifted) as well as black leggings and boots from Go Jane. I also painted my nails with this awesome milk chocolate colored polish I got from (of all places) Walgreens!

Many of you expressed an interest in know more about "me" in my latest survey. So this is odd for me! Being the Blogger is different than the Blog reader-the Blogger has been blogging for 3 years, thus I have a list of topics I've covered on my blog. Problem is, the readers are constantly changing! I may have previously written posts on modesty until my reader's eye balls fell out, but lately I haven't covered the topic at all! So in an effort to share a bit about my life I'm going to try to list 5 things at the bottom of each post (we'll see if it works out!) about myself. If anyone gets sick of hearing about me, yell and I'll stop! Because honestly, I'm not a super fascinating person! But I'll try to think up some interesting things to share, like:
  1. I have a strange "book protection program". I flip out if someone bends my book! I literally read The Lord Of The Rings series in a paperback version and didn't break the binding! (it also lies flat on the book shelf, none of that cover "boinging"!) I also don't let me sister Melissa read any of my books because she's a habitual book abuser!! Sad, but true! ; ) Books are our friends, would you beat up your friend?! I think not!
  2. I love exercise! I know, most of you are probably rolling your eyes! My favorite program is Turbo Fire (please note that the outfits aren't modest on the DVD's-I'm blessed enough to have a basement apart from the guys to exercise).
  3. I HATE artificial Watermelon-it smells like barf to me.
  4. Algebra was "easy", Geometry was not so hot.
  5. I'm an amateur artist-in the smallest sense of the word. Check out my art blog here: www.artbynatasha.blogspot.com
So there you have it! Five things about me! Now it's our turn-leave a comment telling me five things about yourself!
Oh, I almost forgot that it's my 3 year blogaversary this month! Check out my first "What I Wear" post HERE! (yes it's pretty awful). And my first post EVER!
