What I Wear-Shell Shellie Layering Tee!

I'm Wearing: Layering Shirt- C/O Shell Shellie, Shirt-Herbergers, Vest-Maurices, Skirt-Thrifted, Necklace-Forever 21

Shell Shellie was gracious enough to send me two of their layering tops! I picked This black long sleeve full shirt layering top and also one of their cream crop top (sleeveless). I decided to style the long sleeve one, as it was easier for me than heading out into the snow to take pictures of a sleeveless shirt-might be a tad cold for that! But I do look forward to wearing the white one soon!

I decided to show all the different aspects of layering with this shirt, first you have the Shell Shellie black shirt, providing coverage for the low neckline, modesty in that the shirt is a "Burnout" style-extremely sheer-as well as warmth since the shirt is more of a Summer than Winter style. Then I added this cute vest for added warmth, also to show that you could easily wear the layering shirt underneath by itself and still keep modest!

Pros: The layering top has a nice conservative neckline, great for layering under a plunging neckline (as shown). The arms fit perfectly, which is a big plus. Since it's an entire shirt, it's great for layering under a sheer shirt. It's made of nice, soft fabric and fits fairly well (see below)
Cons: I have only one con, the shirt isn't very long. I'm 5"8, so this could contribute to the length problem, but I probably wouldn't wear the layering shirt with a short shirt.

All in all, I give it a 4 out of 5 star rating!
Make sure if you go shopping at their site that you check each size chart carefully-the sizes run different for each brand. So for example, I ended up buying a L and an XL. The lady I worked with also mentioned that it's UK sizing, so it runs 1-1.5 sizes bigger than US sizing. Prices are reasonable-ranging form $14.99-$28+ I'm sure I'll get a lot of wear out of these. Definitely a must for the modest fashionista.

QUESTION: How would you style this layering shirt?

  2. Hi Natasha! I've been a reader of your blog for a while but I've never commented.

I really like how you paired the vest over the printed shirt. I have a shirt kinda similar to that, and I've always admired those styles where you put a cardigan or fashionable jacket or something over a screen shirt and leave it open (does that make sense??) Do you have any tips or ideas for me? I don't have a vest. But what styles would look best or do you think it would look totally wrong :)

    Thanks and cute outfit!
