What I Wear-Mercy

 I'm Wearing: Blue Jean Jacket-Vanity ($15), Purple Tee shirt-Vanity ($8), Maxi Dress-Macy's ($1.99)
It's come to my attention recently a running theme throughout the Bible. I am aware that there are numerous "themes" in the Bible, but this one really jumped out at me while reading through Jeremiah:
“They say, ‘If a man divorces his wife,

And she goes from him
And becomes another man’s,
May he return to her again?’
Would not that land be greatly polluted?
But you have played the harlot with many lovers;
Yet return to Me,” says the Lord." Jeremiah 3:1 (Emphasis mine)

Throughout the Bible, our relationship with God is mirrored in husband-wife relationships. Essentially, God is our heavenly husband (stay with me!). Obviously some things are different, so when this verse talks about "playing the harlot" it sort of jumped out to me. Are we playing the part of a harlot? "Cheating" on God with worldly stuff taking place over our relationships with Him?

I'm not just talking about blatant sin either! It could be a relationship in our lives that takes priority over God, an obsession to get something that isn't "bad"-I.E: Chocolate is fine in moderation, but eating truck loads of it isn't good for you.

All this leading up to one simple thought: our Savior is merciful! That verse could've looked a bit different if He wasn't merciful: "But you played the harlot to many lovers; and now I will never forgive you and punish you for eternity." I'm not saying there isn't consequences for your actions, or that God never disciplines us, He does! But even in the midst of consequences and discipline there is a hand of love reaching out to us in mercy.

God will never turn His back on you-He's so in love with you! He is always ready to forgive and forget your mistakes! Unlike humans who can never truly forget, God completely wipes your sin from His memory.

Aren't you glad for His mercy?!

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9

  2. It really blows my mind how loving and forgiving God is. It almost seems like He's a robot, but He isn't. He knows exactly how we feel, because He's been though the whole world's mess. I wish I could be as strong as He is, because it shatters my world when my husband especially hurts me indirectly. He loves me (and I him), but there are just some things that we all do wrong. It hurts a ton.

    The example from the verse above is enough for spouses to divorce each other, because of adultery in the Bible. However, God can forgive any sin no matter how big. It's crazy, and it makes me cry every time. I pray almost everyday (or at least, I used to) that I don't feel as emotional as I do whenever something "bad" things happen in my life. I get emotionally rocked and really lose it, and I often get jaded with my relationship with God. Do you know how that is? But whenever that happens, of course I think of Jacob and how much he had to go through.

    Anyway, I need prayers my dear. Thanks a bunch for stopping by. Things are not doing too well in our household. It's a force greater than my husband and I, and we desperately need God.

    I don't want to leave without saying something about your outfit, but the pattern on your maxi rocks! You should really take closeup up photos of something like that. That's what I do :)
