What I Wear- 40's Style Dress With Peach Skirt & Modesty Temptation

"No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."  1 Corinthians 10:13
I'm going to start this post of with an ever shocking detail- I'm not perfect! it's not that shocking! It's actually common knowledge when I think about it. I have a question I want to pose to you-have you ever been tempted? How about tempted to dress in a manner that isn't so modest? I know I have. I think we make a choice every time we enter the closet to look at our wardrobes. Maybe this morning you were tempted to put on that skirt you know is too short. But you didn't. Is it a sin to be tempted? The answer-no! The temptation itself isn't a sin, it's acting on the temptation that is sinful.
"Opportunity make knock only once, but temptation leans on the doorbell." Author Unknown

When we dress in a manner that isn't pleasing to God, we cause guys to be tempted. Do we want someone to sin, just so we can wear that less than modest item? Is it worth it? Yes, you might get a bit more attention. But is it the right kind of attention? Take for instance my outfit today. By my standards, this outfit wouldn't be appropriate without a skirt underneath. I feel the hemline would be way too short. Thus I make the decision to put a skirt under my dress every time I wear it.
Shocking detail number 2, modest dress doesn't end when you marry! Just because you have a ring on your finger, doesn't mean your any less of a temptation for guys! So next time your in "modesty temptation" make the extra effort to dress modestly. If we practice to dress modestly now, it won't be nearly as hard when we're older, or married, to dress modestly. To all of the ladies out their in blog world striving to dress in a modest manner- THANK YOU! You rock!
I'm Wearing: Thrifted 40's style dress-$4 Thrifted Peach Skirt-$3 Vanity Belt-$9
Mine is wearing tank tops backwards!

  1. Love that belt! Such a sucker for belts

  2. Good post...cute outfit...and I too turn tank tops backwards (works perfectly!). :o)

  3. One way to make sure that no one is tempeted is to not have anything that you know isnt modest in your closet!!! That way you wont have to worry so much if it is modest!

  4. Love your dress..]

    It's lovely...

  5. I wear shorts, tights or leggings under skirts

  6. love the pop of color! I so agree with you..but we don't just dress modestly so that we don't tempt guys, but more so that we have respect for our bodies. Our bodies are temples and they are beautiful and shouldn't be flaunted or taken lightly. We need to have respect for our bodies and the way to show that is to dress modestly!

  7. love the colors!
