What I Wear- Stripes And Beret + "Healthy" Food Traps

5 comments:
I was able to put together a decent (at least in my opinion) outfit! Lately I've been feeling incredibly uninspired. I go through these phases often, it's all the other fashion blogger's faults! Seriously! You people need to post more! Oh wait...I'm a fashion blogger...and I don't post that often...umm..moving on! I think the best way to put together an outfit is to start with one piece, and go from there. For this outfit, I started with the hat. I then proceeded to add shirt, skirt and etc. Though that worked today, it didn't work the other day. Often I'll stand in my closet trying to find something that matches a certain item, try a billion things on, and only end up frustrated and throwing on my exercise clothes! I also get overheated when I'm frustrated, so I end up feeling like I have a fever by the end of the "ordeal".
You may be wondering about part of my title: + "Healthy" Food Traps. I've been trying to eat healthier lately (unsuccessfully today!) and we decided to have a treat and eat Quiznos for lunch. A healthier option than a hamburger, right? WRONG! Out of curiosity I decided to look up how many calories are in the sandwich I like...as the page loaded my heart beat faster and faster...and I almost threw up when the gigantic numbers came into view! A whopping 1,500 some calories and 81 grams of fat! That's more than half my calories for the day, and an entire days worth of fat grams! How on earth do they even fit that many calories and fat grams into such a small sandwich! What are you supposed to get out my telling you this? Don't assume something is "healthy" or "healthier" until you do the research! Yes, I should know better! I'll do better next time...unless I eat too many of those sandwiches and I'll be dead and it won't matter...
I'm wearing: Royal Azure blue Forever 21 hat, Black eternity scarf ??,Striped repurposed shirt, Royal Azure thrifted skirt, White Vanity leggings, Black Go Jane boots

Vicki was kind enough to draw my portrait! She did a fantastic job, and I especially love the scarf highlights! Great job Vicki, you're very talented!

What I Wear- 40's Style Dress With Peach Skirt & Modesty Temptation

8 comments:
"No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."  1 Corinthians 10:13
I'm going to start this post of with an ever shocking detail- I'm not perfect! Umm..okay..so it's not that shocking! It's actually common knowledge when I think about it. I have a question I want to pose to you-have you ever been tempted? How about tempted to dress in a manner that isn't so modest? I know I have. I think we make a choice every time we enter the closet to look at our wardrobes. Maybe this morning you were tempted to put on that skirt you know is too short. But you didn't. Is it a sin to be tempted? The answer-no! The temptation itself isn't a sin, it's acting on the temptation that is sinful.
"Opportunity make knock only once, but temptation leans on the doorbell." Author Unknown

When we dress in a manner that isn't pleasing to God, we cause guys to be tempted. Do we want someone to sin, just so we can wear that less than modest item? Is it worth it? Yes, you might get a bit more attention. But is it the right kind of attention? Take for instance my outfit today. By my standards, this outfit wouldn't be appropriate without a skirt underneath. I feel the hemline would be way too short. Thus I make the decision to put a skirt under my dress every time I wear it.
Shocking detail number 2, modest dress doesn't end when you marry! Just because you have a ring on your finger, doesn't mean your any less of a temptation for guys! So next time your in "modesty temptation" make the extra effort to dress modestly. If we practice to dress modestly now, it won't be nearly as hard when we're older, or married, to dress modestly. To all of the ladies out their in blog world striving to dress in a modest manner- THANK YOU! You rock!

What I Wear-Simplicity

Oh my gosh! I can't believe how far behind I am in my blogging! Will my dear readers forgive me for leaving them for so long?! I finally got these photos yesterday, I know the outfit isn't spectacular, but it does show my more casual side. As of right now I'm wearing the same skirt and a blue shirt from Maurices, in case anybody cares! : )
I'm wearing: White Pac Sun Shirt, Thrifted Blue Jean Skirt, Flip flops.
I'm so excited, I just checked the Feminine Friday poll and 23 of you have voted! Thank you so much! Style N Season is ahead by 3 points. But of course its too early to tell. Remember there will not be a link up this Friday (today) but next Friday be sure to come link up!
I promise I will try very hard to get a decent outfit on here soon. It just seems like the heat makes me want to dress super casual!

QUESTION:do you want to see some 'every day casual' outfits? Or do you prefer more dressy attire?
Something you may not know about me: I hate artificial watermelon! The smell makes me want to barf.

What I Wear- Finally Back!

Well, I'm finally back from my 10 day trip! I can't believe I haven't posted in 15 days. You can see what I was up to in Colorado tomorrow. I took about a billion photos, so it's taking forever to load!
My closet is slightly ravaged after the trip-I have like three shirts hanging in my closet. This shirt I pulled out of my luggage, the only one I didn't wear. My bangs look awful in these pictures because I'd just hopped out of the shower and realized I hadn't taken an outfit photo in forever! Thus, what you see is what you get.
You all are amazing followers! I now have 198 followers! I'm super excited to 'meet' all of you, and I look forward to hearing from all of you via comments. I'll try very hard to take outfit pictures soon (these are from yesterday). Just so all of you know, Summer is here in Montana! It's supposed to be 86 deg. today! YIKES! The land of extremes! Going from 56 deg. to 86 deg. is weird, but I'm looking forward to enjoying my Summer. Hopefully planting a garden! More on this later...

What I'm Wearing- Black Shirt PacSun, Scarf Plato's Closet, Khaki skirt Goodwill.

I have a ton of stuff to catch up on, so I must leave you with this:
Tell me 1 interesting fact about you!

What I Wear- Plaid 80's Maxi

7 comments:
Plaid. 80's Style. Maxi. Enough said? Weird combination, I know! But I actually like how it came out. I've been frustrated by my outfits lately. Winter clothes, I've got plenty of them. Summer clothes? What's Summer clothes? Oh yeah! I remember Summer now! Warm calm days, a gentle breeze caressing the trees. The sunlight warming my face. It's seriously like that outside! Finally! Summer has come! But back to what I was saying, Summer requires extra creativity to be comfortable, yet still remain modest. This time of year is when the short, short, short, shorts, mini skirts and various other things I don't care to mention, come out. What's a girl to do? Want to know a secret? Seriously, this a deep, dark scary, well kept secret! Ready? Are you sure? Okay...SKIRTS ARE COOLER THAN SHORTS! Yes! I've exposed the well kept secret for an entire generation!

No, but seriously, skirts are so much cooler (in the literal sense of the word as well as the other). Shorts are tight, and if you sweat, become quite sticky. Versus skirts which are way better and are so much lighter and air-ier (is that a word?).  So why not try skirts this Summer? Your not required to buy a billion of them, one will do. I encourage you just to try it, you might like skirts! I used to wear pants every single day, and I can honestly say that skirts are much better! So anyway, skirt lecture over!
So I have to confess something. I'm a habitual copycat. Yep, that's me. Elaine and Kari wore maxi dresses on their two latest posts, why not me?! So why don't we all flood Bloggy world with maxi dresses? Makes logical sense, right? (That's more of my crazy logic in case you didn't know).

QUESTION: Do you own a skirt?

What I Wear- Woman Or Lady? + What I Cooked!

I'm going to open myself up and be honest with you girls, I failed! I let myself and God down. My mom and I had a blow up Sunday (I had a meltdown) about my shirt yesterday. I knew in my heart of hearts that it was too tight and not modest. I guess maybe I didn't care? I really have no answer! Have you ever put something on and thought "this isn't modest, I shouldn't be wearing it." but walked out in it just the same? That's what I did. Only thankfully I have a mother who's honest with me and holds my clothing to God's standards. I did change into something that wasn't tight. Looking at my closet, I ended up tossing about 5 or 6 things that were really cute, but not modest. Some of them I hadn't worn yet, or had worn and felt weren't appropriate. The point of this? I have modesty issues too! I was compromising. I can't give you a reason why I did, I can say that I will try very hard not to do it again. So if you've been reading my blog for awhile, and put me on a 'modesty pedastal' kindly take me off! Because I'm not perfect! Never have, never will be in this world. I blew it, and I hope I can do better in the future. I intend to go through my entire closet and get rid of anything that's too tight.
That having been said, God blessed me with two very cute dresses today for $3 at Goodwill that fit me perfectly! I can't wait to share them with you.
The snow has finally melted and the Sunshines out! It got to like 60-65 deg. today! I wore flip flops and no tights and didn't freeze! We had lunch outside on our porch and I got 20 minutes of glorious sunshine! I'm a bit pink now, but I have been in the house for over 8 months, and rarely have my legs seen the light. I adore the sun!
I'm wearing: Purple Shirt Aeropostale (Gift) White Tank Top ?? Blue Jean Skirt Thrifted ($3) White Skirt Thrifted ($3) Flip Flops Old Navy ($1)
I also made lunch Saturday for the family. No, this won't become a food blog-I promise. But I couldn't resist posting photos! Food is so fun to photograph! It was a good meal (I think, no one said anything about it being disgusting or anything like that!) although slightly odd. I cooked the chicken in a cast iron pan and while it cooked, cut up onions, celery and carrots. After the chicken cooked for a bit, I seasoned it with cajun seasoning (I know, Orientals don't use cajun seasoning as far as I know!) But we didn't have enough sweet and sour sauce, and no teriyaki sauce.

What I Wear- As 80's Style As I'm Getting!

Hello all! I want to say something very important and crucial to your well being: this is as close to the 80's fashion as I'm ever getting! I couldn't pass this shirt up yesterday at the thrift store, it was too cute! My mom thought it was weird, which translates into 'unique' in my mind. The pattern mixing on the yoke/collar part is what I love about it! Plus the colors grabbed me.
I'm happy to say that I picked up a few skirts and shirts at the thrift shop! I'm super excited about this one skirt-you'll see it at some point! It is the most Spring-y (no, I don't think it's a word) skirt I've ever seen!

What I Wear- 40's Maurices Dress

So I'm super excited! The Nancy Drew Fashion Week starts day after tomorrow! Are you ready? I'm not! I realized I planned on making a dress, and never got around to it. Now that's sad! My own fashion show, not ready for it! Plane b? Thrift stores here I come! Remember, you can enter here or on Ashley's Blog. I encourage you to head over to her blog and become a follower. She has an awesome blog, and you can keep up with the entries at her blog as well!
So what do you think of me getting all fancy on you? Yep, blurred background! Simply any blogger who's anyone is blurring the backgrounds...or something like that. Of course, real fashion bloggers probably can figure out how to set the camera to do that, I cheated and used Gimp.
Welcome to all of my new (and old) followers! I now have 160 people interested in modest fashion! That rocks! And since your supposed to write like every person reading your blog is a new follower, I'll give you a more personal update on me! I'm totally and insanely obsessed with music, and I'm currently teaching myself to play piano! The piano is such an amazing instrument (even if mine is out of tune)! I'm working on playing Ode To Joy by Bethoveen. I'm having a hard time reading the music, as every other insturment I've ever played (bass and acoustic guitar) has chords (such A-G and Am-Gm and a bunch of other boring stuff I won't mention) But I am making some progress reading the music. Patience and perserverance right?

What I Wear- How To Wear An Eternity Scarf

7 comments:
I went through my closet this morning and I have some bad news for all of you. I have two Summer skirts! All the rest are Winter (as in wool) and there is no way I'm wearing wool when it gets warm! You see, I'm a delicate flower and will wilt if left to warm weather. *GRIN* So, here's my question for you amazing fashionista misses, where do you buy your skirts? I ask so I can copy you and steal all your ideas and use them as my own! Or something like that....(that was me being witty, sick right?)
As you may have gathered around Spring time, my mind turns to changing my wardrobe, and removing the heavy dust of Winter.

What I Wear- Makeover Weekend!

Hello ladies, today was a big day for me! I cut my bangs! And my mom pierced my ears! Yes! I said my mom! We were going to go to Spokane WA, but the weather was just too weird to go this time. Maybe in a couple months. But anyways, piercing my ears at home was...stressfull! I was calm cool and collected! *lie lie* Want to know the honest to goodness truth? I was scared out of my mind! I actually almost hyperventilated! But you won't tell anyone will you? *wink*
Sorry for the close up on my yucky pimples. They show up a ton redder on the camera than in real life, which stinks, but oh well! Heres my earrings anyways!

Here is me before bangs:
I started out really small and simple. I may cut full bangs later on, but I'm really happy with the end result! I've never cut my bangs before (I'm 16!) I've had the same hair style for 14+ years and needed a change! So this is me for now.
Wool Pea Cot Fashion Bug (gift) Striped Dress Ross ($13) Grey/Black Slacks Target ($12) Ballet Flats Payless ($8)

I also took a picture of the ear piercing kit for fun:
Scary no? : )
QUESTION: Do you have bangs? Do you think I should cut my bangs more, or leave them?
