I'm going to open myself up and be honest with you girls, I failed! I let myself and God down. My mom and I had a blow up Sunday (I had a meltdown) about my shirt yesterday. I knew in my heart of hearts that it was too tight and not modest. I guess maybe I didn't care? I really have no answer! Have you ever put something on and thought "this isn't modest, I shouldn't be wearing it." but walked out in it just the same? That's what I did. Only thankfully I have a mother who's honest with me and holds my clothing to God's standards. I did change into something that wasn't tight. Looking at my closet, I ended up tossing about 5 or 6 things that were really cute, but not modest. Some of them I hadn't worn yet, or had worn and felt weren't appropriate. The point of this? I have modesty issues too! I was compromising. I can't give you a reason why I did, I can say that I will try very hard not to do it again. So if you've been reading my blog for awhile, and put me on a 'modesty pedastal' kindly take me off! Because I'm not perfect! Never have, never will be in this world. I blew it, and I hope I can do better in the future. I intend to go through my entire closet and get rid of anything that's too tight.
That having been said, God blessed me with two very cute dresses today for $3 at Goodwill that fit me perfectly! I can't wait to share them with you.
The snow has finally melted and the Sunshines out! It got to like 60-65 deg. today! I wore flip flops and no tights and didn't freeze! We had lunch outside on our porch and I got 20 minutes of glorious sunshine! I'm a bit pink now, but I have been in the house for over 8 months, and rarely have my legs seen the light. I adore the sun!
I'm wearing: Purple Shirt Aeropostale (Gift) White Tank Top ?? Blue Jean Skirt Thrifted ($3) White Skirt Thrifted ($3) Flip Flops Old Navy ($1)
I also made lunch Saturday for the family. No, this won't become a food blog-I promise. But I couldn't resist posting photos! Food is so fun to photograph! It was a good meal (I think, no one said anything about it being disgusting or anything like that!) although slightly odd. I cooked the chicken in a cast iron pan and while it cooked, cut up onions, celery and carrots. After the chicken cooked for a bit, I seasoned it with cajun seasoning (I know, Orientals don't use cajun seasoning as far as I know!) But we didn't have enough sweet and sour sauce, and no teriyaki sauce.
Cute outfit!!! It reminds me of something I've seen my younger sister wear. Love it.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your heart as you learn about modesty. Being open about your struggles is key to growing in grace and humility. You have a great way to minister here and there's nothing Satan would like to do more than to cripple you and not allow you to be the good example you are right now for young women. Aren't parents wonderful and a powerful tool that God uses in our lives?! Keep growing and learning, Natasha! God bless!

You are awesome, Natasha! That was really touching to hear. I know "touching" might not be the best word to describe how proud I am of you for doing that! I do have shirts that hug and emphasize the chest area that I've kept from the past (even though they cover the cleavage), but I really do try to only wear them in private or layered. Often times, we think we can get away with something because it's easier to not worry about what we wear... but it then bites us in the butt or in the chest haha!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your honesty. I'm glad for mothers who point these things out! My husband does this for me. My mom used to, but my standards actually are higher than hers now.
PS. I LOVE cajun. I put cajun seasoning in just about everything! That and Old Bay because I'm from Maryland :)
Hi Natasha,
ReplyDeleteI can see that spring is coming over there! :)
Instead of throwing your cute but immodest outfit, have you thought to try combine them with something else to make them modest? For example, I wear my tight top under sheer blouse of crocheted top. By combining 2 immodest pieces, I get a new modest look!
Who knows, you might come up with a whole new wardrobe, all modest, from combining immodest pieces. And having fun in the process! :)
God bless.

Ow, I just realized that I did what I just said on my newest entry. If you want to take a peek, please visit this post http://stylenseason.blogspot.com/2011/05/morning-sunshine.html
ReplyDeleteHere I combine a tank top, a hipster jeans, and a sheer blouse that's a bit too short.
By combining these 3 old pieces, each immodest if worn by itself, I think I've come up with something comfortable and modest.
What do you think, Natasha? And btw, I followed your advice and created an About Me page.:)
