What I Wear- Fall Approaching

3 comments:
Well, it's happening! The weather is starting to cool down, the leaves are changing..it's fall! I'm actually excited this Winter! I can't wait to wear my new sweaters and boots! Bring the snow on! Did I just say that...? Yep! Although it's supposed to go back to 80+ in a couple of days, today it's 50 deg! So I'm wearing a hoodie...and flip flops...I took these pictures yesterday. In trying to be positive about Winter, I'm acutally looking forward to it now! Plus everyone loves my Montana snow backgrounds, right?!
I had to go to the dentist yesterday...I have a cavity. Yuck. But it's only a small one, or so they say. Do they just do that to make you feel better? On top of that, our electricity was out all night, and thus I brushed my teeth outside, with a spit cup! I think I could become obsessed with brushing and flossing my teeth! GRIN
Which isn't necessarily a bad thing since my hygienist said that she has some people who only brush their teeth ONCE a MONTH!
So I guess I forgot to do Feminine Friday last week, so it will be this week! Don't forget to link up! I'm hoping to have a bigger turn out this week, so please help me out and link up and spread the word as well!
I'm working on more creative poses, any better?
I'm wearing: Plaid shirt/short dress (originally $58! Sale price: $8!) Capri Jeggings $4 Kmart

Random thing about me: I could eat pizza for months and not sick of it!
What's your favorite food?

What I Wear- Thanksgiving

"Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!"
                                                                                                     Psalm 107:1
Hey everyone, Happy Thanksgiving! I've resolved that today, I will not be gluttonous! So to throw off the shackles-cool word huh?-of glutton I've worn this outfit. Or something like that! *Wink* Its gotten too cold to go outside and take pictures-though I hope to go freeze myself maybe tomorrow for a picture. But cozy was more apealing than freezing! Its supposed to be warming up, last night was -18 last I looked. Pretty cold! Anyway, the smell of stuffing is making me HUNGRY! Waiting for company to show up so we can eat! Lol!
So I've noticed with the new stats that I have a lot of readers outside the US! So I thought I'd share what Thanksgiving looks like:
Our traditions for Thanksgiving aren't very exciting but most traditions aren't!
We have turkey (of course!)stuffing, homemade rolls, mashed potatoes and gravy. We usually invite a few families over, but very rarely ever have family from out of state. My dad watches 'his' team (the Cowboys) on TV. I know! Please! Don't mock me! The sins of the Father...*sigh*
Thanksgiving is also a time to well...give thanks! Here is Lincoln's Thanksgiving Proclamation which pretty much sums up why we have Thanksgiving.

"Washington, D.C. October 3, 1863By the President of the United States of America.

A Proclamation.
The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God. In the midst of a civil war of unequaled magnitude and severity, which has sometimes seemed to foreign States to invite and to provoke their aggression, peace has been preserved with all nations, order has been maintained, the laws have been respected and obeyed, and harmony has prevailed everywhere except in the theatre of military conflict; while that theatre has been greatly contracted by the advancing armies and navies of the Union. Needful diversions of wealth and of strength from the fields of peaceful industry to the national defence, have not arrested the plough, the shuttle or the ship; the axe has enlarged the borders of our settlements, and the mines, as well of iron and coal as of the precious metals, have yielded even more abundantly than heretofore. Population has steadily increased, notwithstanding the waste that has been made in the camp, the siege and the battle-field; and the country, rejoicing in the consiousness of augmented strength and vigor, is permitted to expect continuance of years with large increase of freedom. No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy. It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and one voice by the whole American People. I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens. And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings, they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to His tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquillity and Union.

In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the United States to be affixed.
Done at the City of Washington, this Third day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, and of the Independence of the Unites States the Eighty-eighth.

By the President: Abraham Lincoln

What I Wear-Feminine Miltary Inspired Take 2! + Slouchy Boots Question

9 comments:
Hey everyone! So I know I've done this military shirt before recently HERE but I decided I wanted to wear it again, enough said?! Just joking-kind of. I did decide to pair it with completely opposite colors and jewelry. Once again, I'm pairing my skirt with my 'slouchy' boots! (read on Grace!) I do have to say that they are my favorite pair of shoes (next to my furry winter Emus HERE and HERE) they also have a fur lining I can pull down! Which is awesome! For some reason, I don't think fur is good before it snows...but maybe I should change that, no?

What I Wear-
Military Inspired Jacket- Vanity- $15
Hot Pink Shirt- Pac Sun $2
Skirt- Goodwill $2.99
Leggings- Target $2
Boots-Maurices $5

And now for Grace' question! Finally! (sorry)
Grace says"I like your slouch boots as well, and I have a question about them...what can you wear slouch boots with? Like, is there anything that looks really bad? I like to wear skirts, what type of skirts would they look good with? (my slouch boots are tall, black ones.)"
Grace, I really don't think you can go wrong with boots and skirts! They look great (in my opinion) together. I don't recommend wearing a skirt that goes past the boots (like over the boot itself) because this looks slightly odd. Black is the perfect color and should work well for you! In addition to the above post on my wearing boots you can also check out these:

QUESTION: WOULD YOU WEAR FUR LINED/TRIMMED BOOTS BEFORE THE SNOW FLIES?

Hey everyone! Worship went great! I only missed one chord (which for me is superb!) and we only sounded like squawky chickens once or twice...LOL! Just joking! We visited Helena yesterday and I found some awesome Ross dresses! If you haven't visited Ross before, do! They have some great prices on trendy items, and most all of the dresses were this length or longer! Not very easy to find in outlet stores these days. I'm really excited about the other pieces I found at Ross, and can't wait to show them to you! My favorite, is one that looks like something Mary Tyler Moore would have worn on Dick Van Dyke! And yes, I'm obsessed with the wardrobes on TV! Mostly, thats the only reason I watch TV!

Fashion Observations From An Amature- Fall 2010

5 comments:
I don't claim to be a 'fashion expert' or even 'fashionable'! But I do have eyes, and I can observe the tides of the fashion trends. Repeat! Its all about repeat this year, repeat the 80s', the 40's, the 60's repeat! The constant change in fashion doesn't change much really. There are some simple ways you can update your outfit to move with the ever changing fashion trends, without breaking the bank! Here are the top items on the rise this Fall:

Jeggins Modest-fied

Jeggins Modest-fied by NatashaAtkerson featuring sleeveless dresses
Jeggings (Yes, I know I left off the g, sorry!) Possibly the most im-modest thing they could think of to make! But.....here we go Modest-fied again! Jeggings can be made modest with a bit of work. I think they're perfect for under a short-ish dress, with boots. Seeing as how they are basically tight jeans, they would work well, and wouldn't bunch up in your boots! For that I give them credit. However, I don't think they're appropriate with out a long shirt/dress over them. Go for a flowy top to even out the fitted jeggings. I don't own a pair yet, and I can't tell you how they fit or how they feel; I did say it was an observation didn't I?

Scarfs are a must have accesory! Perfect for all your Fall pieces, its a great way to update your wardrobe without spending a ton! It can also be that "something" you've looked for to spice up an otherwise drab shirt.
Ruched Details

Ruched Details by NatashaAtkerson featuring a vneck dress
Ruched shirts, ruched dress, ruched sweaters (at the hem) its everywhere! I'm thinking of doing a shirt with the ruched sleeves (It really wouldn't be that hard to do, perhaps I can do a tutorial!) And maybe a scarf. Feminine, beautiful, its a great look! But they tend to be pretty pricey! So opt for sales items, or try one on your own. Or...you could save for it. I believe Forever 21 had a cute striped shirt for around $30.

Over The knee boots

Over The knee boots by NatashaAtkerson featuring satin heels
And the last, and most disgusting trend: Knee high boots. Come on! This is a ridicoulous style! Its totally overpowering, and most often times worn with short barely there shorts. My opionion....dump this trend.

What do you think of these trends? Any more you care to add? Which of these trends would you wear?

Hey everyone, well today's post has taken me awhile to get up! I took the photos this morning, but haven't had time since! I had to clean the bathroom, do the dishwasher, and I helped with Dinner! Melissa and I cooked biscuits and gravy, hasbrowns and  turkey sausauge. Want a confession? I hate those popping biscuit cans! I'm not joking, they scare me to death! I always have someone else do them for me! So if I'm 80 and in my own house, I'll still be calling my brother to open the cans for me! LOL! Yeah, I know, sad...I can't help it! They've scared me ever since I was a little girl! Today's outfit is my first "Fall". It was a bit chilly outside today, too cold for flip flops *sniff* *sniff* waaaa....I really hate wearing shoes! I would run around barefoot 24/7 if I was allowed to!

Hey everyone! Well, its been a week or so since I posted a "What I Wear" post! Mostly because my cheeks were swollen to ten times their size (because of having my wisdom teeth out) and I couldn't open my mouth hardly at all! I looked like Hammie (from Over The Hedge) I actually had 5 wisdom teeth! Yep, 5! Crazy I know! But if anyone could have 5 wisdom teeth, it had to be me! LOL!
Today's outfit is sort of Fall-ish (don't even say it!) but its still pretty warm here (88 deg) But not too warm really. I'm in denial here people! Summer aint over till I say it is! LOL! School starts on Sept. 1st for me....yep...Summer really is over! *boo hoo* I'm actually excited for school to start, I have a few new books and curriculums I'm going to do this school year. Photography, Art, consumer math, sewing, History.....and of course; lost of reading! Plus all the other "stuff".....

The sweater could button all the way, but I prefer it un-buttoned (it looked cuter!) as the tank top showed through, giving it a more "layered" look.

What I Wear

Tank Tops- Pac Sun
Skirt-Thrift Shop
Flip Flops-Old Navy
