What I Wear- Easter 50's/60's Style!

9 comments:

I wore this outfit yesterday-Easter. Originally, the skirt was supposed to be a dress, but the bodice got messed up. It was going to have buttons down the front of the bodice, but the fabrice was so thin that it frayed too much before I got fray check on. So I settled for a skirt instead. I actually like how the outfit came out! It's sort of 50's/60's style. And yes, I'm wearing a petticoat. Weird, right? I don't really care if it is, I like the way it looks. Although it does have a slight drawback, it's very hard to sit in! Have you ever seen those drawings in books of ladies in hoopskirts that are lying on the ground, their hoop skirt up in the air? Petticoats are similair. I had to be careful that I didn't sit down too fast. So lady like sitting is important!

It was a beauitful day yesterday! Upper 60's in fact! I've decided that Montana people have a huge advantage over the warmer states: we enjoy the nice weather when it comes around! Other states take the sunshine for granted, or it gets so hot all they do is stay inside all day.
Saturday was also gorgeous and my dad, siblings and I went on a walk down our road. Fresh air rocks! I love going on walks up and down our road. The silence is soothing, and their aren't any cars rushing past! (a few anyway)

I've been working on a few more drawings! (Which you can view HERE) One of a blog reader, and a friend at church. I think both came out well. I also finished a baby drawing (yes another!) this time of Asian Twins.

I think my curls turned out well! I just used those foam curlers. You can get them at the dollar store I believe.

I'm wearing: 50's Vintage Style Sweater From Wal Mart ($7) Ghingahm Skirt Made By Me ($1 a yard!) Petticoat from Bonanza (kind of like Etsy) ($20) Low Heeled Mary Janes 6pm ($30)

I'm so excited! The driveway is a mess of slush! Look out Summer here I come! You may think me crazy for not wearing anything on my legs, but your just gonna have to get over it! Tights would've ruined the look! Besides, it wasn't that cold outside.

What I Wear- 50's Knee Length Wool Skirt

Did you know people make mean comments sometimes because they're hurting inside? I had a lady at a thrift store once make a rude comment to me. After that I wasn't particualry glad to see her.
However I was glancing through the clothes one day and heard her talking to a co-worker. Her husband had cancer, she was deciding wether or not to put her mom in the nursing home, she was going through some tough stuff! Our natural reaction when someone says something about us, is to say something back just as mean. However, thats not the reaction God wants us to have.
“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also."  Matthew 5:38-39
Ouch. Yep, give him the other cheek! That applies to rude anonymous commenters on your blog as well. I've been on the receiving end of those comments, and they hurt. But the best thing to do is let it roll of your back, and ask God to help you love that person, in spite of what they may say. There's a big problem in the online world with bullying. Its so easy to just write whatever venemous thought comes into our minds, and not have to live with the consequences! If your having a problem with rude comments I suggest you first don't post about the comments, and turn the anonymous commenting off. Let me know if you need help with this. Moderating your comments is also a big help. Another idea is to have someone else check the comments, that way you don't have to read all of them! But ultimatley, I think people who leave those comments have a heart problem. Maybe they have gone through some tough things this year, try to remember that. Heap burning coals on their head by being the nicest you can to them. Its been my experience that people who say mean things are usually hurting inside, and lash out at other people. Not logical, but true.

Anyways, I'm wearing a cold weather outfit today. Wool skirts are amazing inventions! So warm and cute!

I splurged yesterday and bought this hat for $20, does it count as 'clothes'? If so, I broke my buying freeze. I'm using the complete works of Jane Austen as a prop today. I actually did read all of them! It took about a month (a record long time for me!) to read it. My favorite would still have to be Pride and Prejudice. What's your favorite Jane Austen book? If you haven't read any, read one as soon as you can! They're are simply stupendously amazing!

I wasn't entirely sure about this hat when I pulled it off the hat rack. It screamed at me, but yet Its unlike anything I've ever worn before! I think I might have found my favorite hat! What do you think of it? And if you don't like it....oh well! I do, and thats all that matters! Since of course, I'm the one wearing it...ha!Ha!
I got two hats yesterday acutally-is this confession time or what?! The other one is grey and almost like a mo-hair and its grey. Really super cute!
Its been super cold here, like -15 at night! So our house it pretty cold right now! I've been looking at other place, and everyones weather is super cold! (well, almost everyone's) The North East part the US is getting slammed! Its funny, because living in Montana, we really don't get that cold...that or my body has adjusted...
Seriously, it didn't seem that cold outiside!

"Say not, “Why were the former days better than these?” For it is not from wisdom that you ask this."
Ecclesiastes 7:10

Over the past Summer I decided I was going to be positive about the snow, no matter how much it snowed! The previous year, all I could do was complain because it was snowing (once again). Well I've totally changed my mindset! I actually have learned to appreciate the snow! I come up with things I like about it:
1.Its God's masterpiece, each snow flake is unique!
2.It makes a great back drop for my photos!
3.I hate the heat, so snow is welcome!
4.The moisture is needed to keep the forest fires down in the Summer (smoke is worse than heat)
5.Winter is the perfect time to catch up on crafts, sewing, and others! In the Summer time, I'm always wanting to be outside doing something, which you can't do in the Winter time!

What about you? Are you constantly complaining about something? The weather? Where you live? What you look like? I encourage you to pick one thing that you feel your being too negative about (it might even be the meals your mom makes you!) and think only positive thoughts. Ask God to help you find the good in whatever negative thing your conquering. God can take you through anything, much bigger things than snow, believe me! Let me know later in a comment how things worked out for you! And no cheating! Negative thoughts are worse than negative words. Negative thoughts can eat you from the inside out, and eventually you'll become so bitter from your thoughts that you don't even realize the person you've become.

Sorry for the sermon/rant! But I felt it needed to be said! Thoughts are a bigger deal than most of us know! It all starts inside, the heart. If you hearts ugly, your actions, feelings and eventually your body as well will be unappealing-even to you! You can be Miss America, and still be ugly! If your hearts in the right place people will start to see you for you, a beautiful intelligent ladie serving God! Yes! YOU! You are beautiful! You may not have the smallest legs, or the nicest eyebrows, but your heart will shine through! Even the ugliest person on the planet (think bull dogs! : ) Sorry to any bull dog owners!) will become beautiful. After awhile, you don't see peoples outward appearance, you'll see them for who they truely are. But this also applies to beautiful people, after awhile you stop seeing the pretty eyes, and the ugly heart comes out.

Until next time: Keep your heart beautiful, and kick those negative thoughts out the window! And into the beautiful, pure snow where they will be washed away, never to be seen again!

Hello! All of you may be wondering why I'm sitting on the computer instead of being at church. I'm still not feeling very good and woke up coughing a lung up this morning. And since none of you can catch whatever I have through the computer...I'm on here talking to you! Wouldn't it be awful if you could catch stuff through the screen?! I'm very excited about this fashion week! I've had a ton more entries this fashion week than last! Thank you all for your support, and I'll see you tomorrow!
