Life Before Prince Charming And My Kate Middleton Skirt

 I'm wearing: shirt-Target $7// plaid Kate Middleton style skirt-thrifted hand me down $3.99// black riding boots-Herbergers $37

So I've been thinking about how a lot of girls want Prince Charming to rescue them from....themselves. Simply because one gets married doesn't mean that character flaw is suddenly gone. Yes, marriage can serve to grow both of you, but probably in the same ways you needed growing before marriage.

So instead of sitting around, wistfully waiting for a perfect guy (who by the way doesn't exist), how about working on those issues God placed on your heart? I.E. Loving your siblings, being content, waiting patiently (insert your personal issue)

It's very easy to get into the mind set of: my life will start when Mr. Darcy enters the dance floor. The reality? Elizabeth Bennett was living her life way before that.

So, what am I saying? Don't let a guy become your focus in life. I KNOW God has something for you to do right now, right here, in this moment.
So what is it?

What I Wear- Plaid Wool Skirt 1950's Style + Invisible Band Hairstyle And Thoughts On Makeup

13 comments:

Hey everyone, I decided to take a shower and get some outfit photos posted! I mentioned the shower to explain my hair's stringy appearance! I tried something new with my hair:
All I did was pull two sections back into a ponytail/hairband and pulled the hair hanging down partially through! I like how it came out, and you can't even see the hairband!

Thanks for the encouragement on the exercise post, I'll be sure to post more on that soon.

Someone commented on my exercise post:
"If I may ask why don't you wear make up? ~*Karin*~"

Of course you may ask! I'm not going to answer though...just joking! I don't mind, really! : ) My not wearing makeup has nothing to do with Christianity, it's simply a personal preference. My older sister and my mom (on occasion) wear makeup, and I'm allowed to if I like. However, I've never really had a desire to wear makeup. I've been blessed with super dark eye lashes, and you probably wouldn't be able to tell if I did wear mascara. I like my face the way it is, and I don't feel the need to cover, or alter it. I also know many women who wear makeup for awhile and then feel washed out when they aren't wearing it. I don't ever want to feel like my natural face isn't "good enough". My other reason for not wearing makeup is that I feel I would be one of those women who becomes too dependent on makeup, and won't leave the house without it on. So I see nothing wrong in wearing makeup, for some people, just not me! I know lots of people who look beautiful in makeup, but it's entirely their choice whether or not they wear makeup. So to make a long story short, the answer is: I don't want to! : )

After these questions, I was wondering if there is anything else that you've been wondering about me? I'd love to answer any of your questions (within reason of course!). I know I have quite a few new readers, so toss the questions at me!

What I Wear-Bomber Jacket Obsession

5 comments:
The word "obsession" comes to mind when I think of my bomber jacket. I'm sooo glad I bought this jacket! It goes with everything in my closet, fits well, and it was a massive bargain! I pulled out my plaid skirt which I  haven't worn since last Winter. I still love the pattern, however a year of abuse use, has left the hemline looking...worn. I'm going to have to use my serger and sew it up again. The hem is fraying, and coming undone. As you may have guessed from my outfit, the weather has taken a turn to the colder side.
This year I'm actually ready for it! I think I might even enjoy the...s-n-o-w...shhhhhhh! While my boots appear grey-ish in this photo, they are in fact brown.

I'm debating canceling Feminine Friday. I haven't gotten a very good response (about two to three per FF link up) So my questions is, what would you like the in the near future? Something that lasts longer (a week?) like my previous fashion shows? Something new? If new, what do you have in mind?
I'm wearing: Leather bomber jacket with fur collar Herbergers ($32) Aqua Long Sleeve Shirt JcPenney ($10) Plaid Skirt hand made (n/a) Brown Boots Amazon.com ($25)
I'm very excited that my self-taught piano lessons are going well. I can pretty much sight read all the right hand notes, the left hand is coming along nicely. I'm currently practicing What A Friend We Have In Jesus, Lullaby, a song from Sense and Sensibility, and various other songs. In addition to my piano, I'm also messing around with a capo on my acoustic guitar. As you know (or soon will find out!) I'm the kind of person who likes to be doing a million things at a time, and have a million hobbies at once. But music and art are my top ones. Music touches a place in people's hearts that nothing else can. You can listen to a song, perfectly happy, and all of a sudden burst into tears just because the song sounds sad.
QUESTION: What's your hobby?

"If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; ..."
1 Corinthians 13:1-13

Currently 43 deg. and loving it! I almost melted when I felt the sunshine hit my back! Sunshine, isn't it a lovely thing?! Okay, enough of my  phsyco-path rambling! I just finished making this scarf, and I must say I'm loving it! My current obsession is crocheting! Since I have dial up (I know, I know, come out of the dark ages right?!) I found out that when I have an especially time consuming page to load, I get my crocheting out! I'm working on a chunky pink beanie as of right now.
Anyone who truely knows me, knows that I like to have a bazillion and one projects going at once. These may include-but are not limited to-blogging, reading, writing, crocheting, knitting, beading, macrame', sewing, fashion, art, drawing, sketching painting...and I'll end the list here as I know you probably don't really want to know everything I like to do!

Baiscally the idea is to leave a comment on each and every blog post for the month of Febuary! An interesting idea I must say! I plan on trying to do it. I say trying because I don't know if I'll have time. But I do think its a good idea! Check out her blog for more info. (link below)

"Say not, “Why were the former days better than these?” For it is not from wisdom that you ask this."
Ecclesiastes 7:10

Over the past Summer I decided I was going to be positive about the snow, no matter how much it snowed! The previous year, all I could do was complain because it was snowing (once again). Well I've totally changed my mindset! I actually have learned to appreciate the snow! I come up with things I like about it:
1.Its God's masterpiece, each snow flake is unique!
2.It makes a great back drop for my photos!
3.I hate the heat, so snow is welcome!
4.The moisture is needed to keep the forest fires down in the Summer (smoke is worse than heat)
5.Winter is the perfect time to catch up on crafts, sewing, and others! In the Summer time, I'm always wanting to be outside doing something, which you can't do in the Winter time!

What about you? Are you constantly complaining about something? The weather? Where you live? What you look like? I encourage you to pick one thing that you feel your being too negative about (it might even be the meals your mom makes you!) and think only positive thoughts. Ask God to help you find the good in whatever negative thing your conquering. God can take you through anything, much bigger things than snow, believe me! Let me know later in a comment how things worked out for you! And no cheating! Negative thoughts are worse than negative words. Negative thoughts can eat you from the inside out, and eventually you'll become so bitter from your thoughts that you don't even realize the person you've become.

Sorry for the sermon/rant! But I felt it needed to be said! Thoughts are a bigger deal than most of us know! It all starts inside, the heart. If you hearts ugly, your actions, feelings and eventually your body as well will be unappealing-even to you! You can be Miss America, and still be ugly! If your hearts in the right place people will start to see you for you, a beautiful intelligent ladie serving God! Yes! YOU! You are beautiful! You may not have the smallest legs, or the nicest eyebrows, but your heart will shine through! Even the ugliest person on the planet (think bull dogs! : ) Sorry to any bull dog owners!) will become beautiful. After awhile, you don't see peoples outward appearance, you'll see them for who they truely are. But this also applies to beautiful people, after awhile you stop seeing the pretty eyes, and the ugly heart comes out.

Until next time: Keep your heart beautiful, and kick those negative thoughts out the window! And into the beautiful, pure snow where they will be washed away, never to be seen again!
