Pose per mom's instructions! : )

I'm Wearing: Thrifted Roxy hoodie, Black Skirt (c/o Kosher Casual), Pink thrifted Aeropstale shirt, black Go Jane boots.

First of all, I apologize for not getting my outfit posted yesterday! I did wear a decent outfit, it just slipped my mind to get photos of it till I was in Pjs! : ) Second, if you haven't received a comment from me on your outfit, it's not because I don't like it! I guess from the Blogger blog they're having some "issues" with blogs that have comments embedded in the post, instead of the pop up window. I go to leave a comment and the page tells me "I'm not authorized to view this page"! All your outfits are fantastic and show great creativity and shine a bright new positive light on feminine modesty. We've had a great "turn out" the last 4 days (minus Sat. Which I didn't even participate in!)!

What I'd like to know while the experience is still fresh in your mind is this: What would you change or keep about this fashion event? Are the event "themes" a good idea or would you rather an unstructured event? Would you have a 7 day event next time or shorter?

Let The Fashion Week Begin! Feminine Fashion Week Officially Starts NOW!

What I Wear- How To Wear Combat Boots Femininely!

7 comments:

Hey everyone! As the post title suggests, this is my version of "feminine combat boots" at least thats what Maurices called the boots...I think they're more "granny boots" than combat boots, but I suppose boot name are in the eye of the beholder! I wanted to let my reader (Grace) know that I haven't forgotten you or your question about how to wear slouchy boots! I will be putting a post up very soon with different ways to wear them! So please bear with me as I prepare this. It has been too nice of weather to don boots (there will be enough of that soon!) its supposed to rain and snow Monday....whatever....

I bought this shirt because it made me think of a Monet...beautiful!

-What I Wear-
Pearl Necklace- Flower Pearl-Vanity(gift). Single-Payless ($1)
"Monet" shirt- Maurices ($8)
Pink Cardigan- Vanity ($2)
Belt-Target ($3)
Skirt- Maurices (Gift)
Tights-Herbergers ($2)
Boots- Maurices (Mom's)

I started taking the vitamin Biotin (Vitamin H) have any of you taken this?

Question:
What type of outfit would you like to see on here?
More 'how to wear' posts?

Interviews with Miss Raquel and Miss Emily

Name: Miss Raquel

Age: I like to keep my age unknown online...sorry :)
Blog: God's Daughter (http://www.god-sdaughter.blogspot.com/)

Interests/Hobbies: oh goodness! Let's see...Well, when you don’t find me
cooking, cleaning, milking goats, or taking care of my younger siblings,
you can find me doing other things that I enjoy, such as: reading,
writing, singing, dancing, crocheting or knitting, doing beadwork, riding
horses, reenacting (Civil War), spending time with friends, and/or
blogging. My three favorite places to be are: outside/the barn, the
kitchen, and my room. :)

Short Bio:
http://god-sdaughter.blogspot.com/p/about-me.html
(Please check out the bio page if you wish to know more about Miss Raquel)

Where did you find out about my fashion show?
You left a comment on my blog, letting me know! :D Yay! So glad you did!

If you could pick one person who influenced you in modesty, who would it be?
ONE person? Hmm...can I just name a few? ;) My bosom friend, Danielle H.
(http://www.living-athome.blogspot.com/), the Riddell Ladies
(http://www.daughtersofvision.blogspot.com/), the Craig Ladies, the Duggar Ladies,
the McDonald Ladies, Leslie Ludy, the Botkin sisters, Jasmine Baucham,
Miss Jenny (www.blessedfemina.blogspot.com), oh goodness, and many more!

Why is modesty important to you?
Modesty is important to me because I believe the way we dress reflects
EVERYTHING about our character and what we stand for. I want to be a
modest, pure young woman who reflects ONLY the love that God has for me
and show the world that I stand for my LORD - as His daughter.

If you could tell every girl in the world one thing, what would it be?
First of all - follow God. It is the most rewarding path to take. No,
it's not easy - every bed of roses has a thorn in it! :) But it is,
nonetheless, the best. Second - don't back down from your faith in Him.
Stand for what you believe and show the world that He is the only way.
Third - He has a plan for your life. He didn't put you on this earth for
no reason. Believe in Him, trust Him, and He will show you the way.

Given the choice between wearing a skirt, or jeans, which would you pick?
Hmm...it really depends on what mood I'm in. ;)

Can you tell people a little something about your blog?
Well, you can find tons of stuff on it! Like...day-to-day happenings,
giveaways, fashion event photos ;), TONS of pics!, links to fun
websites/blogs, etc., etc. You really should stop by! :)

Anything else you would like to add?
I feel just SO honored to have been a part of this event and to be chosen
as the #1 winner! Wow; I still can't believe it! :) Thank you so much
for interview me too, Natasha.

Name: Miss Emily

Age: 20

Blog: I don't have a blog, but my sister has one for our family, Simple Delights

Interests/Hobbies: Piano ( both playing and teaching), Sign language, health/nutrition, reading , finding great deals on modest fashion.

Short Bio: I am the oldest in my family ( have a younger sister and brother). I was homeschooled from preschool through high school.
Now that I've been a graduate for a couple years, I'm pursuing several avenues of business/ministry opportunities in my areas of interest.
I teach Piano lessons and am hoping to pursue classes in American Sign Language this fall.

Where did you find out about my fashion show? My sister Samantha was already participating in the event, so she told me about it.
If you could pick one person who influenced you in modesty, who would it be? For me, It's not been one person in particular. I have been so encouraged through the years by friends, Christian bloggers and writers as I strive for modesty in what I wear.
Why is modesty important to you? I feel that modesty allows you to be known by who you are as a person, your character, your faith in the Lord, instead of what you have on. In short, people are drawn to you, become friends with you, because of who you truly are. Clothing can send all kinds of messages- make sure you're sending the right one.

If you could tell every girl in the world one thing, what would it be? You are so precious in the sight of God. He created you in His image!

Don't let the world lie to you when it comes to beauty-true beauty come from inside.

Given the choice between wearing a skirt, or jeans, which would you pick? Hmm..tough question. In the past I've been skirts only, in the last few years I've worn a mixture of both. I think now that I've started wearing both, I'd have to say I like each - for different reasons. When I'm doing something active, I appreciate a pair of not-too-tight pants. I'm finding myself gaining new appreciation of skirts, because I think they display such a beautiful femininity to the world, also because it's hard to find pants that aren't too tight( My best bet seems to be jeans carried by Old Navy and Gap).

Can you tell people a little something about your blog? Simple Delights is a mixture of photography, modest fashion and the various happening in the Hartzell household.

Anything else you would like to add? You don't have to spend a lot to be modest and fashionable. One of the ways I stretch my wardrobe dollars is to buy necklaces, earrings, scarves and hats, instead of buying a whole new outfit. Shop your closet and put different pieces of clothing together in different ways. You'd be surprised how many different looking outfits you can make with the same pair of jeans or skirt and t-shirt, simply by switching out a necklace for a scarf, flats for sandals and adding a hat.

AND THE WINNER OF THE FASHION SHOW IS....

4 comments:

Hello everyone,
I'm so sorry it took me so long to get the winners up! But none the less here they are!

1st place goes to....
Miss Raquel Day 7
All of the judges agreed that Miss Raquel is the perfect spokes-person for modest fashion. The fashionable hat makes the outfit!

She plays down the cute orange shirt well with the dark denim knee length skirt!

Please be sure to stop by her blog and become a follower if you like what you see! Congratulations, and thanks for being modest!

2nd place goes to....
Displaying modest fashion with the pairing of white and orange, we love the print of the skirt!
Totally and absolutely modest fashion!
Please check out her sister's blog (she entered on there) and follow if you like it!
And last (but certainly not least) 3rd goes to....

I believe that Marie displayed a very unique and cute style with pairing a tank top with buttons down the front! Very cute idea! We loved the white and blue contrast-and hey? How can you go wrong with a white skirt! LOL!

A HUGE thank you to everyone who participated! And another ginormous (spelling? : ) thank you to the people who donated items for the prizes.

I truly wished that I could give each and every one of you some kind of prize, but I can't afford that! LOL! But each of you deserved a prize! They were so cute and modest! Each and every one of you displayed wonderful modest fashion throughout the week.

And as a "consolation" prize, take this button for your blog!

Hey everyone, well today is the last day of the fashion show! It has been so fun! And I can't wait to pick a winner! Althought I know it will be hard to pick my favorites, there are so many to choose from! I have a friend and two sisters helping me out with the judging. My friend didn't participate, and thus is un-biased and can judge fairly!

Be sure to look through all the old linkys and see which are your favorites, and leave your favorite in a comment.

I'm not sure when I will be announcing the winner (depends on how long it takes me to pick the winner!) But be sure to check your emails to see if you've won through the next few days!

FOR NOW, ENTER YOUR LAST OUTFIT! BE SURE TO MAKE IT THE BEST ONE EVER! GOOD LUCK!

"Shout It!" Modest Online Fashion Show Day: 6

Hey everyone! Well, I actually got my outfit up today on time! I was on vacation in Spokane WA! Which was super fun! We got back yesterday, but I don't tell people when I'm going to be gone, or coming back for safety reasons. So I ended up using Wifi at the hotel to keep an eye on things.
Seriously, Spokane is like mall heaven! We spent hours and hours and hours shopping! And even got lost a few times! (Okay, that was only because I'm directionally challenged) The shrug in today, and yesterday's outfit was something I bought in Spokane. I really love it, and it fits me perfectly! I got it in this little boutique called Romy, never been in one of those, but they had some $7.99 items! I got a dress thats super cute. Infortunatley, I got it home and its an inch too small in the zipper area. The waist fits perfect, so I think I'll add some fabric.
What I Wear-
Black Shrug-Romy
Pink tank- grocery store
Brown tank-Vanity
Skirt-Ross
Flip Flops-Old Navy

Oh yeah, guess what? I found out I can french braid! (Obviously this isn't a french braid!) But I just did it one night! LOL! It was crazy!

Special thanks to my little sister for taking the pictures!

"Shout It!" Modest Online Fashion Show Day: 2

Hey everyone! Today's the second day of the fashion show! I've really enjoyed looking at all your outfits! I'm so encouraged by the fact that 18 girls out there are trying to dress in a modest fashionable way! I know God is looking down and smiling on you girls! And think about the countless other modest fashion blogs there are! I believe modesty is on the rise! I know that people say the fashion industry dictates what we wear, and whats "fashionable". But I don't believe that's true! WE make things fashionable! WE buy the clothes! WE choose to dress modestly, or not. In case you didn't know it, layering came and went last Summer, we were still wearing, and now its back! Hmm...funny! I have to say that this dress was the best buy I've ever made! It was on sale for-get this!- $2.99!!!!! At that price, you can wear it twice and donate it to a thrift store! (Okay, maybe not!) But anyways, I love it! As always, I love your guy's input. If you have a suggestion for any outfit, or a comment (you know I love 'em!) Please say so! Your comments are what I gauge how popular something is, if you comment more on the "modest-fied" articles, I write more of them! So leave comments on posts you like!
I hope your all having fun this week!

-What I Wear-
Dress- $2.99!!! Kmart
Belt- Maurice's
Flip Flops-Vanity
Necklaces-various places

BE SURE TO WEAR RED, WHITE AND BLUE FOR THE 4TH! GOD BLESS AMERICA!
