What I Wear-Avonlea Gloves!

3 comments:

I'm wearing: Scarf-Forever 21-gift, Gloves-gift-from Avonlea set!- Jean Jacket-borrowed from my sister Patience, Dress-Forever21, Pants-thrifted, boots-gojane.com

I got these gloves from my parent's fro Christmas, but the coolest part is that they were worn on the set of Avonlea! Isn't that awesome? So I imagined that Sara Stanley or Felicity King wore them...although in reality it was probably some extra that was on the set for 2.5 seconds. LOL! Fun to imagine anyway! The scarf was also a Christmas present!

It's been sort of a weird year in regards to snow-it hasn't snowed hardly at all! Which actually isn't good, since we need the moisture. The snow hasn't melted off, but it hasn't come down anymore. It's just been cold! Which is okay too, whatevs. I'd have to say that jeans under my dress was an attempt at staying warm without too much bulk. Sometimes leggings or tights just don't cut it! Some other cold weather tips for wearing skirts-
wear 2 pairs of socks (wool is best!)
leg warmers over tights
hats and scarves actually do keep you warm (they're not just for looks!)

What are your cold weather tips for wearing skirts/dresses?

What I Wear-Vintage Cape Debut!

6 comments:

I'm Wearing a vintage thrifted cape-$5, Black Herbergers shirt-$10, Old Navy thrifted blue jeans-$5.99, Go Jane boots-29-ish?

It's finally cold enough to wear my vintage cape! I was standing in my closet this morning and remembered I hadn't worn my lovely cape yet! It's surprisingly warm (although I'm not currently wearing it due to the fact that I've been cutting 16 fresh pineapples...). My mom has decided to torture teach me to can for part of my school. After that, super cleaning my room is on the agenda. It's time to pull those poor neglected Winter clothes out from their dusty boxes! It's almost like getting an entirely new wardrobe-with only vague recollections of wearing them. First things first: box up Summer clothes. The problem is, what exactly are Summer clothes?! Winter, I get that: long sleeves, wool, sweaters and hoodies. However, Summer clothes can be converted into Winter clothes super easy. On the other hand, packing them away helps next Summer, when I unpack my "new" clothes! Anyone have clothing guideline suggestions? How do you decide what to pack away?

And I had a huge response to my "how old am I?" post-24 comments! Makes me wonder, where are you usually? hmmmm...lurkers, eh? *GRIN* The answer is: 18! many of you got very close, and some even guessed 18 (by the way, the person who guessed 29 was my sister *rolls eyes*-take my advice and block your sisters from commenting! LOL!
PS: Please forgive the greasy hair! : (

Why Is It Important To Dress Femininely?

3 comments:
I received this comment today from Sara:

  • "Why is it important to dress femininely?-Sara"
Definition of Femininity: the trait of behaving in ways considered typical for women.

We're girls, be happy with that! Embrace what God created you to be, a woman. To help you out in understanding this, think about something.

What would you do if you saw a horse walking around on it's hind legs all the time? And when you asked the owner, they told you that it was because the horse wanted to be human!

While this may seem a bit silly, this is the basic idea of dressing feminine. Why try to be something we're not?

  • So Skirts Are The Only Option?
Absolutely not! For me, I felt like God was calling (or asking me) to wear skirts. Do I wear skirts because they're more "holy" than pants? No! I wear them because HE asked me to.
I encourage you to decided if you personally, are being called to wear skirts. If not, that's fine! It's not for everyone. But if the clothes your wearing would look fine on a guy (father, brother, guy-friend), they're probably not very feminine. After I started wearing skirts, I realized that they CAN be a lot more modest than jeans. (I do own a pair of slacks by the way) Modest jeans are a lot harder to find than skirts. But skirts can also be im-modest.

It's funny (well not really...but you know!) ladies can get almost violent about the topic of modesty and skirts. I've read some ladies articles, and listened to some ladies speaking, and you can tell God's working on them. Yet they get angry, instead of listening to God's voice! Bitterness does not become thee! : )

Basic jist of this post? Be a girl! It's who God created you to be. That's why it's important to dress feminine!

I hope that answers your question Sara! And if anyone needs something explained to them more clearly, please don't hesitate to ask!

What I Wear- *Pop* Of Color!

5 comments:
Hey everyone! Today I *gasp* didn't feel like wearing a skirt! It was windy, and felt pretty cold (it wasn't really, 43 deg.) So I opted for a modest approach to jeans: a long sweater! I don't think pants are wrong to wear, but I personally feel uncomfortable in jeans after wearing skirts for so long. They feel tight, constricting and...jean-y! And yes, I made that word up! *GRIN* I have been considering getting some loose fitting slacks (not jeans) with large bell bottoms. Any ideas on where to buy some? I'm thinking black, grey or brown. I've seen some on a couple sites, and they look very feminine and modest. If they'll look that way on me, I don't know.

I've decided I need a closet lift. To me this includes:
  • Getting rid of the 'junk' in my closet that just sits around.
  • Buying neuatral clothes (white shirt, plain easily mixed items)
  • A few 'trendy' new pieces that are cheap (I.E sale clothes, or cheap jewelry)
Would anyone be interested in buying some of my clothes? I wear a size M-to XL depending on how the shirt is made (I.E if the shirts too tight, I go up a size) and a size 6-10 skirt. Let me know. I would be willing to do some deals, but I'd like it to be fair to both me and you.

Blue Thumb Hole Shirt JcPenney ($7) Black Cowl Neck Sweater Kmart ($2) Jeans thrifted ($3.99)
Boots Emu (Gift)
Question: Would you be interested in buying my clothes?

What I Wear- "cool" girls

10 comments:
Ok, the title is a bit cheesy! I don't really know what "cool" in this sense of the word means. But its pretty popular with the kids at my school *GRIN* (I'm Homeschooled)
So I was wondering, do you girls wear skirts or jeans more? Personally, I go through fazes. As of now-even though I'm wearing jeans-I'm in a skirt faze. I used to wear dresses ALL the time! I'm more into skirts right now, just because they're so versatile and cute! Plus, they can be dressed down which is a neccestiy for where I live. I'm hoping to get some more post up today, so check back soon!

Anyways, heres the outfit.

Antartica outfit!

3 comments:
Alright, so the title is a bit misleading, I'm not in Antartica! But Montana is close right now! I'm having the same kind of weather as most of you are probably having, mine just has a little - (negative) sign in front of it! I think this outfit is appropriate for the weather. Its nice and cozy,  yet cute. I mean, how can you go wrong with fur boots, leg warmers and a hoodie?! Did I mention I have an obsession with hoodies? I do! In my opinion, there the most awesome fashion statement available! They come in every size, color, and style! I added the belt to the shirt because it was like flaring out in an odd way!

The Beginning Of Holiday Attire!

"Do I really have to confess this? Please!" Yeah, I have a confession! I did CHRISTmas songs on my acoustic guitar for worship at church with my dad, and I really wanted something CHRISTmas-y (is that a word?!) To wear. So yesterday (Sat.) I woke up, told mom I was going to make a vest out of some plaid downstairs. Needless to say, she thought I was nuts! Seriously, I made it from scratch in like a half hour! I didn't have time to put buttons on, so I pinned it with a snowflake pin! I think it looks cute! (If I don't say so myself!: )P

Modesty for....GUYS?! And distressed jeans....

10 comments:
I have a question for you! Do you think guys can be immodest? I think so! Lately, the thing thats gotten me, underwear jeans! I don't know what they're actually called, but thats what I will refer to them as. If you have brother, or a "guy friend", PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! Ask them to wear a belt! Aside from the fact that its totally repulsive, what happens if their pants fall down in the middle of a store? Same goes for girls, wear jeans that fit! They don't have to be skin tight, just "Fit" and if you prefer to wear your jeans looser, than I strongly suggest a belt! What happens if your at church, and a little one tugs on your jeans?! Yeah! Never thought of that before? What are your views on this subject? Did I leave anything out?

So, moving on to the next topic! Controversial topic #2!! Woohoo! Distressed jeans! Some people think distressed jeans are immodest, I do wear them (I only own a couple of pairs) but I do think that they can be immodest! So heres a picture of my distressed jeans:

Originally this rip was thread bare, so all I did was sew some white fabric behind it. You want to know something? During church I was convicted of something. If I wouldn't wear a skirt this short, than why would I wear pants with a hole, too high.

What are your feelings on this subject? Do have any other ideas for making them modest? Have a great weekend!
