What I Wear-My Life Right Now And Random Me

Am I the only one who feels like time has sped up soooo much?!? My weeks fly by in a blur of work, play and sleep. Can it truly be almost the end of January?
With January comes a ton of paperwork for me. I do the books and payroll (among various other things) for our family business, so January is a fun month! Printing a seemingly endless amount of paperwork and filling out forms has kept me busy! Did you know I'm an obsessive perfectionist? Yep, so me and taxes have some, shall we say, issues?

My mom had the awesome idea of taking my outfit photos in the hallway of our church building (we rent out an old school with quite a few businesses). I'm not at all distrubed to tell you these were taken in front of the bathroom. Where else do you take photos?! :D

Anywho...I've been kicking around the idea of doing another video, but then I think "what would I talk about?" So now I'm going to unashamedly shift the responsibility over to you my dear reader!
What video would you like to see?

Now that I've bored you with seemingly random bits that made sense in my head....

What I Wear-Modesty Makes You Ashamed Of Your Body?

5 comments:

For some reason I've seen a lot of articles lately with titles something like, "Why teaching Christian modesty makes women ashamed of their bodies." These articles deeply sadden me, to say the least.

Modesty within the Christian realm has become a term that stirs varied emotions. I can totally understand that some women have been burned by churches, mean spirited people and people who are well meaning, yet out of line. Words can be hurtful, yet we throw them about with hardly a second thought.

I wanted to share my personal feelings on this. I don't ever want a single one of you to be ashamed of your body! That's actually against biblical principles (I.E-you're made in the image of God, your body is a temple, not to mention being grateful for what you have.)

God made each one of you absolutely stunning, never be ashamed of that. When we talk about modesty, it's not for the sake of hiding your body, you should treasure the amazing gift God has given you. Part of treasuring that gift is avoiding revealing every aspect of your body, partly with modest apparel. By dressing modestly you're actually showing those around you that you treasure your body, not that you're ashamed! It's like wearing a billboard that says "I respect myself and don't need to show you every curve and inch of my body."
You're a beautiful, stunning, wondrous child of God-act like it!

Do you think modesty makes you ashamed of your body?

What I Wear-Vintage Cape Debut!

I'm Wearing a vintage thrifted cape-$5, Black Herbergers shirt-$10, Old Navy thrifted blue jeans-$5.99, Go Jane boots-29-ish?

It's finally cold enough to wear my vintage cape! I was standing in my closet this morning and remembered I hadn't worn my lovely cape yet! It's surprisingly warm (although I'm not currently wearing it due to the fact that I've been cutting 16 fresh pineapples...). My mom has decided to torture teach me to can for part of my school. After that, super cleaning my room is on the agenda. It's time to pull those poor neglected Winter clothes out from their dusty boxes! It's almost like getting an entirely new wardrobe-with only vague recollections of wearing them. First things first: box up Summer clothes. The problem is, what exactly are Summer clothes?! Winter, I get that: long sleeves, wool, sweaters and hoodies. However, Summer clothes can be converted into Winter clothes super easy. On the other hand, packing them away helps next Summer, when I unpack my "new" clothes! Anyone have clothing guideline suggestions? How do you decide what to pack away?

And I had a huge response to my "how old am I?" post-24 comments! Makes me wonder, where are you usually? hmmmm...lurkers, eh? *GRIN* The answer is: 18! many of you got very close, and some even guessed 18 (by the way, the person who guessed 29 was my sister *rolls eyes*-take my advice and block your sisters from commenting! LOL!
PS: Please forgive the greasy hair! : (

What I Wear- Plaid Wool Skirt 1950's Style + Invisible Band Hairstyle And Thoughts On Makeup

Hey everyone, I decided to take a shower and get some outfit photos posted! I mentioned the shower to explain my hair's stringy appearance! I tried something new with my hair:
All I did was pull two sections back into a ponytail/hairband and pulled the hair hanging down partially through! I like how it came out, and you can't even see the hairband!

Thanks for the encouragement on the exercise post, I'll be sure to post more on that soon.

Someone commented on my exercise post:
"If I may ask why don't you wear make up? ~*Karin*~"

Of course you may ask! I'm not going to answer though...just joking! I don't mind, really! : ) My not wearing makeup has nothing to do with Christianity, it's simply a personal preference. My older sister and my mom (on occasion) wear makeup, and I'm allowed to if I like. However, I've never really had a desire to wear makeup. I've been blessed with super dark eye lashes, and you probably wouldn't be able to tell if I did wear mascara. I like my face the way it is, and I don't feel the need to cover, or alter it. I also know many women who wear makeup for awhile and then feel washed out when they aren't wearing it. I don't ever want to feel like my natural face isn't "good enough". My other reason for not wearing makeup is that I feel I would be one of those women who becomes too dependent on makeup, and won't leave the house without it on. So I see nothing wrong in wearing makeup, for some people, just not me! I know lots of people who look beautiful in makeup, but it's entirely their choice whether or not they wear makeup. So to make a long story short, the answer is: I don't want to! : )

After these questions, I was wondering if there is anything else that you've been wondering about me? I'd love to answer any of your questions (within reason of course!). I know I have quite a few new readers, so toss the questions at me!

What I Wear- Vintage Thrifted Dress

8 comments:
Hey everyone! I finally did it! Can you guess what? I'll give you a hint, it's on my forehead! If you can't guess, you shouldn't be reading my blog. *GRIN*
Anyway, for those of you who didn't guess (and yes, I was joking about not reading my blog) I cut my bangs! I started out with side bangs-not really bangs per-say, but really just the 'I'm intending on cutting my bangs and I'm a chicken' kind. So I now have bangs! I like them! My mom cut them for me, and I'm pleased with the effect.
This is the dress I told all of you about in my last post. Other than the length-easily fixed with another skirt-It fits me perfectly! I couldn't be happier. However, I found out that I don't pay very close attention to the things I buy at Goodwill! I went to try on the 'dress' turned out it was a culotte jumper thingy! So my mom told me just to cut the legs, and I stitched it back up and 'voila! A dress! I was trying to decided if I wanted to keep it culottes, but then just decided that was dumb since I wear dresses all the time anyways, and culottes aren't really more modest than a dress. And my little sister pointed out this morning that it would be really hard to go to the bathroom in culottes!

What I'm Wearing- Thrifted 80's/40's style Vintage Dress-Break Loose ($3) White Skirt-Thrifted ($3) Mary Jane Shoes-6PM ($30)

So I'm happy with my bangs, except that half my family thinks I now resemble a hippy, and the other half think I look like when I was 5. Which is better? Oh well...that's family for you! Can't live with 'em, can't without 'em!
And here are some close up shots of the button details on the front of the dress, as well as the broach I'm wearing.

What I Wear- Word On The Street About eShakti

I was contacted by eShakti and asked to review a product! I chose this vintage inspired dress, which I must say I'm very happy with! Shipping from India, you would think it would take a long time, nope! They shipped it on the 20th of January, and I received it today (the 24th!) So I was very happy with the shipping time!
In case your wondering, Shakti means power in Sanskrit. eShakti therefore means the power of the Net.
Power indeed! You can customize almost everything including: sleeve, neckline and length! They come in sizes
0-26W, and recently extended the sizes up to 6X for some of the items!
The most appealing to me being the length and and neckline. It can be so hard sometimes to find clothing that is modest, and this way you can choose!

You can get custom sizing/custom tailoring for only $7.50! It was really easy to submit all the information, and I was pleased overall with my experience.

The only complaint I had, was that they had way too many cute dresses to pick from! LOL! : ) But thats not really a negative thing! ; )

I'm very happy with the length- about two inches below the knee. While I don't usually wear orange, this dress kept calling to me! With faint butterflies and phonographs, how can you go wrong?! On the left side of the skirt is also an embroidered accent of a phonograph and a butterfly in black. I think the pieces that makes it so vintage is the phonograph/butterfly and the cute collar. I picked the short sleeves, as I figured that way I can wear the dress in the Summer, and pair it with a jacket in Winter! All in all, a great experience! I encourage you to check out their items. If your new to eShakti, you can take $20 off your first order! Plus you get FREE shipping on orders of $100+!

And if your a copycat (and who isn't!) you can buy my dress HERE!
